Sep 10, 2009 - you knew what they watched because you apparently supervised them while they were watching tv, from previous post by you.
Smartassawhip Says:
Sep 10, 2009 - Of course I supervised my children when they were young.. only an idiot would leave them alone at that age. The point I am making is my kids didn't watch that much tv as we spent most of our time interacting with one another instead. When they did watch it I usually watched it with them. What do you do... just sit your kids in front of the tv all day while you do God only knows what? Maybe that is why you are worried that your kids are to soft headed to handle a presidential speech.
jewilli43 Says:
Sep 10, 2009 - your first sentence just told you what my whole point was that children are easily influenced, but while your so busy arguing you are actually proving what i am saying. read your comments before you start firing back.
Smartassawhip Says:
Sep 10, 2009 - Whatever... I didn't supervise them because I was afraid they were gonna watch something bad for them.. I supervised them in order to keep them safe... You know from like choking or getting a finger pinched in the vcr who knows.. Anyhow the speech is over and of course nobody got brainwashed so I am ready to move on from this issue... seriously.. so you probably won't get another response.

Sep 10, 2009 - anfiach - I simply refuse to believe you're naive enough to think that "naming something" means it IS that something. If so - I should suggest you move to the People's Democratic Republic of the Congo - for no other nation has such a benevolent name. The Nazi useage of "socialist" was specifically to undermine communism. They were fascist, not socialist. They were never socialist - and in fact, only rose to power because of Versailles and the "Soviet Threat." Even the wiki's know this. -Qes

Sep 10, 2009 - We can start with their socialization of health care.
Meralzhe Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - Definition of Nazi is Nation of Socialism ( Not exact but pretty much what the word means.) So in that respect if you believe government control of economy is a good thing you're a Nazi... It's just the definition of the word. Words can be meaningless sometimes but sometimes they can mean something too... For example Czar comes from the word Ceasar which obviously hints something about governmental control somewhere in there... America will die if the Demo/Repubs keep this up.
Meralzhe Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - His speech was nice! I do think that even though the Repubs may have blamed Obama on speaking influencally in a political way to children as their gain they actually may have changed Obama's speech so that he would prove them wrong.... Which may in fact protect some people. I want this government to be clean but it's been corrupted long before Bush came... Ever since the Government started stealing from people in fact. Income tax anyone? We're used to it but it's wrong. Economy Effect? Bad
alexh110 Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - I'm sorry but this is just nonsense, and shows you have only a very superficial understanding of history and economics. The Nazi party did indeed describe themselves as a National Socialist Party; but this was just a label to attract votes, before they turned Germany into a dictatorship.
alexh110 Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - The Nazi party's policies were anything but socialist; in fact they had a very centrist economic policy, with little state control. Corporations were largely left to govern themselves, with the incentive that if they kept prices under control, they would be rewarded with government contracts. Hardly a socialist economic agenda!
alexh110 Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - Economically, Hitler was well to the right of Stalin. Post-war investigations led to a number of revelations about the cosy relationship between German corporations and the Reich. No such scandals subsequently surfaced in Russia, because Stalin had totally squashed the private sector. Nevertheless, within certain US circles, the misconception remains that fascism is essentially left wing, and that the Nazis were socialists simply because of the "socialism" in their name.
alexh110 Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - Some of the people who particularly like to foster such misconceptions are the KKK, and private right wing militias in the US. I would suggest they're hypocrites, because their own politics are in fact much closer to Hitler than are those of the very centrist Obama government.
Meralzhe Says:
Sep 19, 2009 - Politics has sunken to an all time low... Honestly people of every political group can't agree with any of the others... It's chaos! Stop pointing fingers EVERYONE it's sick and if you do it you honestly are just pointing at the flaws of one person to prove the qualities of your beliefs... It's NOT right no matter who does it! Media is not factual anymore. People don't show respect for anybody else's opinion if it's different now a days... The Gov. needs serious change beyond functionality

Oct 30, 2009 - I love how when they point out that GHW Bush said the exact same thing, the guy says "Well, Obama started with a very high approval rating! HAA!"
phillipmarch22 Says:
Nov 3, 2009 - Ya, I caught that too. What the hell does GHW Bush's speech have to do with President Obama's approval ratings? Wow, usually they are more sly when they change the subject! He might as well of started talking about the price of tea in China or horse racing!

Smartassawhip Says:
Sep 10, 2009 - I didn't let them sit in front of the tv all day when they will little and I knew what they were watching when they did watch it. During the first 6 years of their lives childrens brains grow more than any other time I prefered my kids to absorb other things besides garbage on tv... and it paid off. They are both better off and have benefited a great deal. They are teenagers now and they watch whatever they want to watch. They are in no way sheltered. lol Nice try.
