Nov 12, 2009 - I know and can vouche for that. It is REALLY simplified, but on expert there's still the occasional flurry of notes, even if they're close together. A lot of real guitar solos use notes close to each other very quickly. For example, Black Hole Sun's guitar solo. There are a lot of things you can only do on real guitar though, effects, string bending, etc.

Nov 15, 2009 - i guess there is a lot of technical arguements here....but the truth is..being proficient technically at guitar is a waste if you cant write good music....you can barely know how to use the instrument but if you can write a good song thats all that matters...i.e nirvana, blink 182, and then take example the technical players that write garbage like dragon force, malmsteen...will atreyu ever reach nirvana status...no, why? they cant write as good as nirvana or white stripes.

Real guitar is WAY harder, but I think people who do the expert 100% run do have good timing, and speed, which could probably be applied to real guitar and help a bit. They do have a LITTLE skill.
