Feb 4, 2009 - The truth? Pat Riley has said that Pete Maravich is the greatest ball handler of all time. Do you think he's qualified to make such a statement? My opinion? He was a genius. So much more talented and dedicated that today's player that it's ridiculous. 30 years ahead of his time.

Feb 16, 2009 - Dude, Dale Brown charted every Pistol game when he got to LSU and Pistol averaged 13 3 point makes PER GAME past the 19' 9" line. It's mind boggling but true. Search youtube for bill walton, pete maravich you will see Bill Walton talking about it. Pistol AVERAGED 13 3 point MAKES per game at LSU.
bobd007 Says:
Feb 16, 2009 - Wrong again, the 3 point line only existed in his last year with Boston and Pistol shot 10 for 15, lol.
swing4dafences Says:
Feb 23, 2009 - What they can't factor into that is with no incentive to shoot from that deep, he just naturally made 13 shots that deep each game by chance. Well, if he had known that the deep shot was worth 3 points instead of 2, he may have bombed 20-25 of them per game!

Apr 7, 2009 - no defense.... thats why he led in steals hahaha you don't know anything so shutup haha
paperbacklou Says:
Apr 7, 2009 - Pete Maravich was a horrible defensive player. If you think that because he led the league in steals he was a good defensive player, you are kidding yourself something big time. Pat Riley was right -- Maravich was a great ballhandler. Like I said -- a great passer and jump shooter; no defense and never led his teams anywhere. You guys are living in some dreamland. Do you fantasize about him because he was white?

Jun 15, 2009 - Pete Maravich scored 68 so easily on the Knick's Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe and Spencer Haywood, all future HOF players. He was like MJ scoring 63 on Bird, McHale and Parish. Too bad his teams did not build the right players around him, never had the management, coach or kind of teammates that Magic, Jabbar, Jordan or Bird had that led them to their championships.
gandhara496 Says:
Jul 7, 2009 - he had the ball handling skills of a bird or magic and could take over a game like jordan. crazy

Jan 22, 2009 - gq: That was the '78 Knicks with Clyde (one of the best defensive guards ever) that Pistol was pwning. He would have been the best: shoot. pass, jump. Simple game dude and he could do it all better than them all.
