Sep 24, 2009 - Living in Japan for a year after I finish my intensive Japanese course (which goes way too fast - but I manage to keep up; had to learn all of the kana in 2 weeks and we're starting kanji - 15/week, give or take), and it's awesome watching these videos and seeing the similarities and differences. At first, I was pretty hesitant, but I must admit it seems like a lovely place to live. And I seriously need to be near mountains and the sea, so I have to love that about Japan.

However in one of the recent jdorama I noticed that in japan some new couples cheat one another and actually steals another's life saving and empties the bank account so that kind of crime really occurs in japan. In some ways when I visit Japan, I get a little nostalgic to when I was a kid. I just hope in 30 years time Japan doesn't end up like the UK.

In States you would not even think about leaving anything unlocked, unattended or lying around in public or sometimes at home in plain view of the public but it is the total opposite there. Nov 16, 2009 - Just to add to this, regarding crime in general. I felt a lot safer in Japan than I did in the UK while I was staying there. I could walk outside late at night and not worry about anyone approaching me trying to sell me drugs or mug/stab me. Here in the UK, there is always that fear. I look forward to visiting again next year.
