Quikfingers Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. Just seems strange that with all the great guitarists they've had, like Carlton, Baxter (on records) and guys like Wayne Krantz live, they'd have this guy play such half assed guitar

TheJabberwock Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - that is true; i don't know why it deserves a negative vote. hip-hop is as dead as rock was in the late 70s

TheJabberwock Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - you're probably right about the man hours part, but there's a lot of talented musicians like Jon Brion who put some good work into Kanye's albums. that being said, Kanye must have been bludgeoned with something or maybe it was his car wreck, because that boy's mind is not right.

Jgeneraledger23 Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - I saw these guys in '93, they were awesome

Davidbcohen Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - I saw them last night in Milwaukee. They played the entire album "Royal Scam" and other ditties. I have to disagree about John Harrington, the lead guitarist and "music director." He is a phenomenally talented and versatile guitarist. He can play the original solos note for note, but builds on them in ways that respect the original ideas but takes them in different directions. After an entire evening listening to him, I'd have to say he's in the league of Carlton. Rittenour, Baxter, etc.

tinachipp Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - Steely Dan is touring?? I want to see the Royal Scam done live!!

planktonite Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - Today's music just doesn't have this kind of quality, I never get sick of the vocals and the keyboards! Love the Jazzy flavor where is that in todays music?

highgate94 Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - being 53 and growing up listening to becker and fagan, i have seen their touring line up change over the years... the main reason they sound as pristine and polished is because of using certain musicians on certain songs to maximize the fluidity and continuity of the music... john herrington is an excellent all around guitarist and plays an instrument more suited to jazz.... it's amazing some wet behind the ears dickhead could think everyone needs a stack of marshalls... grow the fuck up...

anonomousjason Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - I'd disagree with Quickfingers, the guitar Solo is pretty damn sweet. Of course Mr. 335's is near perfect, playing the solo on this track must be hard, and this guys pulls it off

TheKaiserBillhelm Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - His guitar is out of tune in second half.

Monkberry50 Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - well spoken... agree... this is complex shit... this aint "smoke on the water" ... that was a blistering solo on this song... master your fretboard or stay the hell away from The Dan... respect.

therealkelpainter Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - Okay, I watch this video like 5 times a day and I still can't get enough of: The guy rocking out at 1:26, the backup singer in the middle, and the guitar solo.

pretorious700 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - couldn't have put it better myself. stupidity is like big ears...easy to recognize, hard to hide

pretorious700 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - absolutely...why would anyone want to mimic a solo from 30 years ago?

texymex123 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - I don't doubt that he could have played the solo note for note, but thats just boring. Allowing an artist to have some creative licencing with the solo provides for a more enriching event for the listener.

MrVader4000 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - Montreal 's Royal Scam event was cancelled today....had ticket front row.. i'm very disappointed..but that's life..Been enjoying their music since 1972..maybe next time Ce sera pour la prochaine fois...

biggiesmaus Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - i know what you mean. these days its taylor swift, the jonas brothers or lil wayne or it isnt "cool" people would rather listen to that shit than this masterpiece of a song.

doxiehouse Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - @tinachipp Did you find out if the Dan is coming around. Oh shoot Im in Boston . Did you find a schedule?

BabylonShitstem Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Ya canceled Montreal Royal Scam , oh well guess its part of the scam Ill be there Saturday for Aja :))))

tinachipp Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - darn it all! yes i found out i missed them by about 10 days . . . they played san francisco! i'll have to catch them next time around. i got to see them in texas during the 90's - great show!

therealkelpainter Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - @tinachipp they actually did 3 nights in San Francisco and I missed them too!

tinachipp Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - they sure didn't do a very good job advertising their shows! guess you had to be "in the know" - perhaps we can catch them next time around.

boboskeeper Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - I didn't know Stephen Colbert played guiter

Quantanthead Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Sounds just as good as it did when I first heard it 30 some years ago.

BeeRich33 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Whoah, why was it cancelled? I'm supposed to see them in 2 days, third row, in a fantastic venue here in Toronto. Massey Hall is a brilliant place. I hope they don't cancel Toronto.
