Oct 31, 2009 - This song takes me back to the Summer of '67. What a Summer of great memorable music. Back then we all took this music for granted, thinking that the hits would never end!!

Oct 31, 2009 - This haunting statement of fact is/was just that. Many thought it to be just another 60's protest song. It wasn't.
InsertName125 Says:
Nov 1, 2009 - I was born that summer, the youngest in a big family and I swear the music and the whole vibe of that era is ingrained in me. I'm just now beginning to realize how much a part of me it is. Now I have children of my own and I'm trying to fill their lives with comparable artistic and musical experiences in the hopes that they'll look back on their own childhood with as much love as I feel for my own. I know it sounds korney, but that's how I feel.

Nov 5, 2009 - If you think this song sucks so bad, why did you buy the 45 back in the day, and why are you still listening to this song?

Nov 7, 2009 - Wow! She was amazing for 16, and what a career she's had since then. She is still writing songs that haunt me. What a treat to see this again.
CoacoaBean08 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - um im pretty sure this is about race not transgender ppl! lol
CoacoaBean08 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - i kind of wish i lived in the 60s when i hear music like this. it was such a revolutionary time. I guess my generation has our own little revolution going on now but still...i always feel like maybe i missed out on something... well then again im black so its probably a good thing to a child of the 90s lol
truedifranco Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - guess I couldve talked about that way thinking lesbian and she is not white so why not think transgender but good to know
CoacoaBean08 Says:
Nov 10, 2009 - well first of all modern day jewish people are white. and i guess you can take it the way you want. most art and music is left up to interpretation but i really cant understand how someone would think "lesbian, transgender, etc." when there are clear words and themes in the song to hint at race. if it were more vague in description maybe it could be about homosexuals or what have you. its cool though. to each is own.
truedifranco Says:
Nov 10, 2009 - whooooa lil miss defensive. I know my history I have a bachlers in women studies. Chill out. I though it was kewl if it would have been not that it is. but you are right "each to their own." but no worries if you got a bit snippy that's what this comments are all about anyway. Have a gorgeous day. Thanks for your words.

Nov 19, 2009 - To her considerable credit, Janis Ian continues to produce vital, thoughtful and (most importantly) listenable music to the present day. Her recent records have been superb and up to the standard. God bless her!

Nov 21, 2009 - This is beautiful, and the amazing thing is that she was writing at such a young age! What a talent!
ohearn22 Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - Even now, this song sends chills down my spine whenever I hear it. But watching Janis in this video is absolutely mesmerizing. Her poise, the conviction with which she sings, and the courage it took to do a controversial song like this on National TV -- all truly incredible. If I live to be 100, I could never match the talent she displayed at 16. Sadly, what passes for talent nowadays doesn't begin to compare.
hartleycwhite Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - An incredible performance by a woman of enormous courage and talent (at 16). Janis Ian is still one of the best (and one of my favourite) singer/songwiter/musician ever and a great influence on my writing style. I count her 'Breaking Silence' Album as one of the best pieces of music ever made.May she continue to greater successes.Hartley C.
