Aug 9, 2009 - It is all in the interpretation and the provenance of life experience that is brought to the song that makes this so special. Absolutely breathtaking.

Sep 5, 2009 - Barbara has sung it wonderfully, Judy has sung it beautifully, but Dame Judy has sung it most emotionally and best on all counts.

Sep 20, 2009 - Does anyone know what this person is supposed to be singing about? It's an excellent song, but I don't kniw what it means.

Sep 22, 2009 - to my understanding, in the stage show 2 people who used to be in a relationship meet up accidentally after years appart. Flirting ensues and it leads the female character to try and reignite their relationship. The guy however says there's no way things can be the way they were, so kinda about rejection and all other assosiated feelings. Hope that helps

KatherineXIX Says:

Sep 24, 2009 - Don't worry...pretty much everyone else who's sung it besides Dame Judi has no idea what it's about, either!

MichiganShawn Says:

Sep 25, 2009 - Always brings a tear to my eyes!! In the beginning, he wanted her, but she wanted her career. Meeting later, he is married and now she wants him. Took her years to realize what she wanted, but it is too late.

Oct 1, 2009 - This woman is just amazing. I cry everytime I watch this - the way Dame Judi sings this is just so very moving. Every word makes sense and I totally understand how the character feels. It is such a special performance. Thank you, Dame Judi!

DivaViva Says:

Oct 2, 2009 - I love this! Even though her version is not so lyrical as others, the raw meaning of the piece is left. This is sublime!

Oct 10, 2009 - Where are those soulful and doleful, schmoltz by the bowlful, clowns?

grummerie Says:

Oct 14, 2009 - Don't want to spoil the illusion but the man she's acting with is David Kernan, not her husband Michael Williams who sadly died in 2001.

noahsdad61 Says:

Oct 16, 2009 - An aging actress makes a play for a married lawyer, who is an old flame of hers. He dallies, then says no. She has just lost the man she now realizes is the love of her life--and maybe her last chance ever for love. So it's mismatched expectations, grief, anger, despair, affection--and wisdom gained too late--rolled into one. Clowns used to be sent in to rescue shows, so as an actress, she asks, "where are they," while knowing she and her beau are the clowns.

noahsdad61 Says:

Oct 18, 2009 - From "A Little Night Music," based on the Ingmar Bergman movie, "Smiles of a Summer Night," which says "A summer night smiles 3 times: once for the young, who know nothing; once for the fools, who know too little; and once for the old, who know too much." It will soon be Catherine Zeta-Jones' turn to sing this masterpiece at the Walter Kerr Theatre in NYC! See it!

Oct 25, 2009 - Dame Judi -- love her artistry. Individual, sublime, unique. What man would NOT want to have an (CORRECTION: THE) affair with her. Exquisite!!

Oct 27, 2009 - I was lucky enough to be at this performance and yes it was indeed one of the many highlights! My other favourite moment was seeing Hugh Jackman singing Oh What a Beautiful Mornin before he became Hugh Jackman superstar!
