Oct 21, 2007 - Saulo you´re the man! Instruction doesn´t get any better than this!

apollo7z77 Says:

Nov 21, 2007 - this guy is slick as hell.

PAULHIDO Says:

Jan 15, 2008 - Saulo did a seminar at our BJJ Academy in Youngstown, OH. Very good instruction, he is a great instructor and a nice guy

vincespell Says:

Feb 7, 2008 - The only problem with this technique is that the opponent can move the hand that is free from the gi or from holding the gi and grab the foot that is being used as a block, once that happens the technique is shot, so as soon as Saulo scoots and places his knee in the chest remove the hand that Saulo isn't holding and immediately grab his foot and push it down now Saulo doesn't have the sweep, believe me I do it all the time, it takes awhile to pass because of the awkward position but I do it!

meenjerk Says:

Apr 30, 2008 - when you reach back to gra the foot youre asking for a triangle ;)

vincespell Says:

May 2, 2008 - If you grab the foot that is parallel to the ground put pressure on it and slide forward your in his half guard and there is no danger of a triangle. Saulo is exposing himself to too much of a counter attack in that position his foot is his weakness in this technique. No triangle can be put on you if you grab the foot force it down and slide yourself forward now his right foot is trapped beneath you and he must go to half guard!

bearishwearish Says:

May 11, 2008 - If white gi's right hand goes to Saulo's right leg (I think that's what your suggesting) he will expose his back or be prone to the basic counter sweep.

lamontofnazareth Says:

Jan 5, 2009 - All I know is, until you sub somebody, it's pretty unwise to be critical of their technique. There is a reason why they do things a certain way. I'm fairly certain that Saulo knows what he's talking about. His little brother did just win Mundials by the way.

eberscore00 Says:

Jan 13, 2009 - because your a six time world champion right?

PadLockum Says:

Jan 24, 2009 - There is counters to every move....just cuz You know one doesn't make the move ineffective.

Aug 30, 2009 - hes got a BIG little bro too. : )

luvit579 Says:

Oct 17, 2009 - the guy "vincespell" was critical of the technique and said professor Ribeiro is exposeing himself to attack. in his book "jiu-jitsu university" Saulo Ribeiro says to practice the open guard before the closed guard to advance your skills. saying that if you stay in the safety of the closed guard and don't take risks you will limit your game. his book is the best i've ever read, and i have a pretty good collection.
