So if parodying is a violation, how about my case where I would like to use gameplay footage or game trailers, just for the visual aspect and then record my voice over it to explain the game or to talk about the gaming industry. I feel like that's not covered by fair use law. Would I be right?

Nov 1, 2009 - they wouldave had to do it anyway. if they hadnt signed with google and had thier godlike cash than youtube might not even exist anymore because of the lack of money. like he said its a law and youtube warns you not to put the songs up. so really its the song writers choice wether you get to keep it up. just hope they wont be asswholes about it.

Nov 2, 2009 - Fair use says any song or clip used in a parody, review, statement, among other things, is legal parodies are legal because aslong as it is being used to to poke fun at or to joke about itself or something else its legal, if you use a clip or song and then you talk about what you think of it then it is legal because you are stating your freedom. Most of videos on youtube do this, evolution of dance used multiple copyrighted songs and is still up they my friend do what they damn well please,FACE

The only reason I can think of is that this kind of censorship can be used to make people "forget", "erase the past", making them subject to "brainwashing" and "obscure manipulation". However I think getting permission to use a song in your favorite video is a daunting and tiresome not to mention expensive endeavor. No wonder people do it without permission.
