Jan 29, 2007 - Sorry. I do not know date of the video. I presume after Django's death in 1953, but I'm not sure.

Motoguzzijeff Says:
Apr 10, 2007 - I heard that after Django died, Joseph didn't pick up the guitar again for several years and that while with the Quintet du Hot Club of France, Django wasn't always so nice to him....never letting him solo and making him carry his gear around..But thats just what I heard...Django (and those who played with him) are and always will be very close to my heart. Thank you for posting this short clip!!!

Nov 20, 2007 - I was just listening to a recording to this song on the way to work, and thought I'd try YouTube to see if I could find anything. Unbelievable! Thanks so much for making this available. He's one of my favorite guitarists! Who's playing rhythmn?
joealesi Says:
Nov 21, 2007 - Joseph's accompanist, Vivian Villerstein, is playing American style flat four rhythm on an archtop guitar. (see comments about the video in the upper right hand corner by clicking on "more".) It is great clip and a great tune, isn't it?

Jul 5, 2008 - hold on a sec, didnt he burn his 3+4th fingers in a fire? or can he use them for chords?
Goodoysters Says:
Jul 28, 2008 - that was his brother Django Reinhardt, his carvan cought on fire and that how he lost his other to. Joseph played rythm for his much more famous broth until his death, this is after Django's death so now he (joseph) is playing the solos
jwg007 Says:
Sep 11, 2008 - Django was very much a difficult persona at times, going from extreme generosity to down right meanness. Especially later on when the lucrative gigs were not so common, he would haggle with band mates over their fee. Quite a few left his band to later return or not at all. It wasn't that he MADE Joseph carry his guitar, that was the respect due to him as 'gypsy guitar king." When Duke Ellington invited Django to New York, he turned up without his selmer, ended up borrowing his first electric..
jwg007 Says:
Sep 11, 2008 - Joseph didn't always play with Django and often put his own bands together. he also dealt in scrap metal. Django had many accomplished rhythm guitar side men..and brought the younger generation in to his fold. Joseph put down the guitar after Django's death (from an aneurism on May 16th 1953) in honour of his big brother, and didnt pick it back up for a couple of years.

Nov 3, 2008 - Ok but I'd rather listen to Django.
marcsabatier Says:
Nov 14, 2008 - The guitar Vivian Villerstein plays is a Super de Luxe, made by the Jacobacci Bros. sold by Major Conn in Paris. The pickup on Joseph Reinhardt's guitar is a RV Tonemaster, made by Steve Brammer, also sold by Major Conn, usualy found on Jacobacci guitars. Marc Sabatier + Jean Debèze
pokbacsi100 Says:
Jan 5, 2009 - Well, Joe may not have been as accomplished as Django as a soloist, but he does an excellent job here, better than most of the subsequent crops of Django wannabes. I know the two being brothers who's father was a musician too, they probably were both taught how to solo, not just rhythym, so though Joe was the rhythym player generally, I'm sure he was familiar enough with the elements of soloing so he could switch places with Django when they felt like it.

Khamomil Says:
Oct 24, 2009 - I just learned today from Wikipedia (French) that Django died at age 43 from a cerebral hemorrhage. I also realized there is no "famous words" by Django. All he had to say he siad it with his guitar, and boy what eloquence! But he's mysterious in some way for that reason. We're so used to words.
