Nov 19, 2009 - Even if that was true, which it isn't, that would have nothing to do with it. They didn't do what they did in the name of atheism. Hitler was a catholic, and against a secular nation, he thought as you do that atheists didn't have any morals, and couldn't be trusted. The atheism of the others you listed is a little deeper than just atheism. They actually believed that they were gods, in a sense. The reason they stuck to atheism, and forced their people into it, was so they'd worship the leader

Nov 19, 2009 - I care because my family, who I love, have been deceived their whole lives to believe in this bullshit. Our family is in financial trouble and yet they are continuing to be brainwashed into giving money to the church every Sunday, they think god will get them through this, there is no god, there is only us.
Savaril Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - @sentienceISi hitler was not an atheist. he was a catholic. nobody can determine stalin's religion because of events that contradict eachother. look at how many people have been killed over holy wars, crusades, the spanish inquisition, the motherfucking holocaust, the dark ages, and now islamic terrorist attacks some atheists may have killed people but these were generally not done over religion, while there are loads of incidents where religious people have killed OVER religion.
Savaril Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - @khangastain atheists are simply people who do not believe in god you're a fucking retard.
AlmostFamous2009 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - your wrong maybe this is what youve been taught but all those dudes had religions, i am not all about myself actually i would die for peoples right to believe what they want without being forcefed others bullshit, "a life lived for others is truly worth living A Einstein" thats what i believe, religious people are out for themselves bro dont you see that, all we want is world peace and harmony wich will never exist if there are religions.they want evryone to adopt their misery wich is relli sad
ArchitectXMachina Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I contend that atheists aren't actually interested at all in god religion. Atheists, just like theists, dismiss all possible gods and religions except theists do not of their own, no?

Nov 19, 2009 - what is he talking about in our school, if anyone even mentions god they get in so much fucking trouble
irendelle Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Well, I suggest your family should stop giving their "tithes n offerings" to the church and the church (if it truly, sincerely represents "the Body of Christ" on earth), particularly the pastor should help support you family financially, by "multiplying loaves and fishes" 4ur daily needs. Your love to them btw, is worth commending.

Nov 19, 2009 - Well put. I dislike the rave music but nice video.
Banewolf Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - It's not a dismissal, merely that by the scientific method, the burden of proof lies on existence, not non-existence, so the lack of evidence an atheist sees leads him to believe there is no god, while maintaining the possibility of further evidence changing that opinion
Banewolf Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I would contend that is not right to kill someone simply based on biological imperative, to continue the species you do not particularly want to kill your own kind. And you cannot state that all good comes from religion with the shear volume f wars based on it, using it to breed intolerance and hate, hell evven the bible cllearly states to kill the non-believer in deuteronomy 13.6-11
ArchitectXMachina Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Do we each understand the definition between atheist, agnostic, or theist? Using a system of just 2 opposites and a neutral for a template: Atheist- Maintains the position that there cannot be a god. Agnostic- Maintains the position that there's possible evidence of a god (not sure so they continuously wait). Theist- Maintains that there can be a god.: Atheists know there's no god, agnostics don't know if there's a god, theists know there is a god. Your definitions please for comparison?
ArchitectXMachina Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - People, regardless of their upbringing, are from birth; programmed, subjected, engrained with religious memes/instructions from their culture, their heritage, and their gene pool. Chances are very good in that whichever religious exposure or direct instruction, the information is taught by parents, family, community, society. Atheists by choice teach themselves to question what they are exposed to therefore aren't inclined to believe or pay attention to religion by default.
ArchitectXMachina Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - When it comes to killing; human beings, regardless of what belief system they've developed for themselves, it's committing an act murder is found thoughout the natural world. When I've seen an animal intentionally kill (murder) another for whatever reason, there was no debate from the witnesses afterward. Our species debates murder have developed codes addressing it. Not everyone agrees on the boundries, approach, discipline of murder acts. It appears that culture forms details per area.
Orangesoda19 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Many, MANY people are trying to stop teaching evolution in schools. They are trying to get God back into schools.
ArchitectXMachina Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - With all due respect, Orangesoda19, a person's god goes everywhere their mind is taken. It's taken to school ( work) regardless of the school's policy on religion. A person is accepted into a church for what they believe is turned out for what they know. A person is accepted into a school for what they know turned out for what they believe. Are we actually dealing with a double-edged sword or is there a clear separation of church and state/work? Politics suffer from duplicitous agendas.

Nov 20, 2009 - who gives a fuck boy scouts is fucking gay
Banewolf Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - My difference in definition is i use belief while you use know. To believe something is to have confidence in something without absolute proof, to know implies an absolute proof. An atheist believes there is no God but accepts that further evidence may exist to change that, A Theist believes there is a God but accepts that it is an act of faith rather than evidence. An agnostic is someone who doesn't think they can make a choice, through lack of information or strong belief
Banewolf Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - After all, two people cannot know two things in direct contradiction by definition of the word now, in such an instance it must be a matter of belief until either matter can be proven. Oh and from your first set of definitions, maintain the possibility and can be mean essentially the same thing, just one is slightly more emphatic.
CopperFangunlimited Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - religion will distroy america....
LinnTractorNut Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Start atheist scouts, under the equal protections clause they should publically get the same treatment. I'd rather have someone honest about their beliefs than someone who lies to get elected. What oath do you swear to as sacred? The Founders didn't want to endorse any one religion in order to prevent the religous wars experienced (and continues in Northern Ireland) happening here. I believe all should be free to believe what they choose, as Paine said, "that which teaches man to be good..."

MrGSNfan Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - It can be based on religion. However, it is common sense that you must work hard and acquire possessions yourself, not take them from others. Atheists don't need God to tell them that.
