DanielMurphy007 Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - 75% of men in America are circumcized, the majority are not jewish or muslim. Many parents have it done, not out of religion, but because they think it is "normal" or hygienic.

Mutantvision Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - Boteach is completely revolting and ignorant.

spydertub3 Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Not only do I agree, but he uses quotes as ammunition. He excerpts pieces of information excluding the people themselves and whom they are and why they thought the way that they did. This is sometimes called, "Bending the truth." He also make a habit of railroading the crowd listening to him with run on sentences and quick subject changes as an attempt to overpower the audience against the ideas fore mentioned. He also uses points from topics in which he disagrees with. This is called hypocrisy.

spydertub3 Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - He also compares the eye to a complex system of a telephone network. What is sad is that he doesn't understand that even though nature has had millions of years of "tweaking" and evolution to create these systems. They are still completely weak. We can only see in the color spectrum. We can't see infrared, x-ray, gamma ray, radio, ultraviolet, etc. We can only smell certain things and feel things of certain temperatures. The senses are complex by our understanding but simple by the universe.

Otakuonfire Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - It was done during war times to decrease chances of infection from grit and buildup, etc... But even in modern military situations it is inlikely that you sit in swamps and tredge through jungles for months without the opportunity to bath or be releived, very unlikely, so it is unneeded.

zapopaul Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - i think it's called, shear, unadulterated stupidity and ignorance. the "absurd in the highest degree" incomplete quote from Darwin, is listed by Wikipedia as an eponimous example of the quote mining strategy. if he was being disingenuous we would have picked another quote because this one lands him(or has landed him) in the same basket with ken ham, ray "banana man" comfort, and kent hovind.

Jma0322 Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Because of certain religious views that have been prominent in the past and have crawled into popular culture. People originally clipped the end of the penis off because of the religious view that god told his chosen people to do so.

Jma0322 Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - This debate is shit. Hitchens lets this clown get away with too many lies, hypocrisy, fallacious emotional appeals, etc.

Bubi449 Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - Its entertaining to see how Botech came so prepared...but fails so miserably...hwuhwuhauuahhahahahhahauhuwhuwha

thevirtuozo Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - Rabbi Boteach = epic fail !

thescorpionking2010 Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - heisenberg principle is against the existence of god,god does nt exist

funknotik Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - I'm glad everyone notices the Rabbi is a fucktard. Jesus butt fucking christ what a retard.

NightmareContinues Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - What?! Nobody intelligent had ever said the Earth is more than 5 billion years old. It is, in fact, still 4.54 billion years old.

cmk1964 Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - Boteach wants to create the Jewish version of the Oprah Show. He's an arrogant sonovabitch.

DiVeronica Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - lmfao. that rabbi made 0 sense. I can only imagine the thoughts running through hitchens' head as he the rabbi spoke his first few "rather unlettered" sentences.

heyguysinternet Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - @ultimadrago fantastic. you've made two unqualified generalizations. cute, but foolish.

ultimadrago Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - @heyguysinternet: And you are qualified for...? Anyways, thanks for using parts of my last comment (made it myself). It's nice to hear from a "band wagoner" or two these days.

badandyeef Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - What I find quite hilarious about the religious and sometimes fanatical Boteach is that he speaks of evolution as an intelligent process. It's not intelligent, merely random changes; and the animals whose random changes cause them to survive longer than others will be the ones left on the planet to mate more and eventually become a major species. He's freakin' retarded and speaking very passionately without realizing how stupid he is. Study biology before using it as a tool in debate.

elvirahx Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - "My point is that parents should be allowed to do what they think is best for their children." That's insane and highly irresponsible. What do you think about a parent that's used homeopathy to cure a child of an ailment? Or one that simply prays for something to happen rather than actually take them to a hospital? Parents may make decisions they think are best, without risking a child's health or well-being. After that line is crossed they must lose the right to be parents.

JMSofSweden Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Why can't they ever find a religious representative who knows what the hell they're talking about?

barifkin31 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Ehh, that's a slippery slope though. Who decides what's "risking a child's health". Is letting a minor ride a dirtbike dangerous? Is allowing their underage child to get an abortion dangerous? It seems as if we start telling people what they can and cannot do with their kids' health, we're on the road to fascism. I'm not saying I agree with any of this crazy behavior, or this boteach guy, but can we really force vaccinations or circumcisions or organic food or any other health remedy on people?

MrAbenjacan Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - However, how many people you have debated, and whether or not they're your friends does not qualify as support for half of your arguments, nor does pointing out Hitchen's Book's imperfections help defend your views on the existence of god.

elvirahx Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - I'm pretty sure we have laws for a reason... you know, things agreed upon by a majority? It is illegal to abuse your child and you shouldn't be able to get away with something deemed abuse simply because you're religious. That's my point. Give the kid a dirtbike? Red Herring. And, yes, I think we should enforce vaccinations. If we didn't legally enforce small pox back in the day it may not have been eradicated.

barifkin31 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - I totally agree, you shouldn't be able to to abuse your children for religious reasons. Determining what qualifies as abuse is touchy. making it so cut and dry seems a little naive. what about parents who force their kids to adhere to ramadan and not eat during the day? not all people agree on things that are deemed, for the majority, beneficial. there are people who claim vaccinations caused irreparable damage to their kids. it's a grey area that I think must be established by parents.

MrAbenjacan Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Most of Boteach's arguments are faintly grounded on remarks like: "I debated Dawkins a million times, I debated Douglas a billion times", and "You're book sucks because it's not infallible", and "You haven't read article ass for a face from the New York Times September blah blah bla...". Sheez, man, step down from that pulpit of conceit brother.
