elishot Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - if they were still alive, they wouldnt be as "special" as people hold them today

musicman69123 Says:

Nov 9, 2009 - That's probably not true, elishot.

elishot Says:

Nov 9, 2009 - name me somebody who is still alive that people hold in the same regard as janis? John lennon? Tupac? Biggie? hendrix? marley? fact is they died at their peak and people will remember them for their peak, rather than what their career would have been AFTER their peak. alanis morissette is a good modern example, if she would have died shortly after jagged little pill were released, she'd be legendary (more than she already is) that's just how it is

musicman69123 Says:

Nov 9, 2009 - I understand your point, elishot. And your right for the most part, that's how it is most of the time. I'm just saying that there are exceptions, such as Stevie Wonder, Paul McCarteny, and Eric Clapton.

elishot Says:

Nov 9, 2009 - well true but i feel like if they had died at their peak, they would be at another level than what they are (if thats even possible) i dont necessarily think death makes an artist over rated, but i think it shoots them into a whole new level of popularity that they wouldnt have "achieved" otherwise

miggy221 Says:

Nov 10, 2009 - djlifo:rather Hendrix the Giant with cobain and janis? that just is not right.

goodfellas92 Says:

Nov 10, 2009 - weird thing is that janis joplin was good friends with jimi hendrix. joplin died a couple weeks after hendrix. Hendrix died Sept 18 while Joplin died Oct 4.

rmccue873 Says:

Nov 10, 2009 - What about the beetles? They were really fricken popular at their time and people would still remember them if mccartney hadn't died. All the other members are still alive, aren't they? That band is HUGE and people still know them....

scottreno40 Says:

Nov 10, 2009 - She was just developing as an artist and yes it makes these great tunes bittersweet, but not sugarcoated. They speak for themselves, forever.

Ms12Gauge57 Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - Janis was ALL heart! Woodstock was awesome, and I wouldn't trade ANY of my 57 years if I had to give up one of those memories. My generation had Jerry Garcia AND Janis Joplin! Talk about fortunate!

Ognjen91095 Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - Check my interpretation of this song on Serbian version of Got Talent, by typing "Ja imam talenat Ognjen Vuletić, 14 godina". Of course, Janis is by the far my favourite singer and nobody does/will do that the way she did :)

JOSUE144000 Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - You can receive Jesus right now, along with what you offer, that's all, if you just pray and ask Him into your heart, bringing love, life, liberty, truth, peace, wealth and happiness, that He will give you now and forever! Ask simply, "Jesus, come into my heart I believe You are the Son of God. I beg you to forgive my sins and help me to love You and the neighbor, and talk to others from you. In the name of Jesus , amen

JulietLenne Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - I wanna be 18 years old in the 60's. Not today.
