Jul 26, 2009 - What the fuck is wrong with people here? Every culture is unique and comparing it to others is absurd. Tamil cinema has contributed a lot to Bollywood. Those of you who have nothing positive to say should just shut the fuck up. It is annoying that so many Indians are racist, YES RACIST, about those from other states.

Jul 28, 2009 - Doesn't it bother you that you are so separatist by nature? And you need not worry about my nationality or ethnicity, I assure you this will be a neutral debate shall you choose to accept.
srkluvr41 Says:
Jul 28, 2009 - Alright, I accept. I shall attempt to put my biases aside for a moment if you're willing to do the same.

Jul 28, 2009 - Hollywood's approval is considered a hallmark of excellence because it is so internationally known. Hollywood is the most successful film industry in the world, so if it recognizes another film industry as being it's equal now, then that MUST mean that the industry is doing something right. I see no Hollywood movies investing in Tamil movies. Give me a VALID example (and not Ghajini because that was copied off a hollywood film, not the other way around). You and your grammar are childish.

Jul 28, 2009 - Biasbiasbias. Need I say more? Your sources must be extremely innacurate for you to suggest such lies.
IMFonYT Says:
Jul 28, 2009 - I am. Btw, I can't see your first comment because it is grayed out. But your statement 'Nobody wants to see ugly men on screen' is false. There are many talented actors who may not be good looking. In fact, most plain-looking actors resort to acting skills as their face won't sell a movie. After all, isnt acting what the movies are really about?
IMFonYT Says:
Jul 28, 2009 - Also, how many south Indian movies have you really seen? I must confess, I have never seen a single Tamil movie in my life but have seen many Malayalam movies.
mcherbboy Says:
Jul 30, 2009 - Well that might be because of the reasons people go to the movies in different cultures. Hollywood considers it an art; people go to watch it not only for entertainment, but also the art of acting. In India, especially Tamil Nadu, people go the the movies primarily to have an great time. This means a lot of the movies made have stuff that American culture would consider stupid, like random songs, comedy intertwined within the main storyline.

Aug 10, 2009 - I agree that hollywood is the biggest movie industry and a pioneering trend setter. But i do not agree that each and every film industry must be compared to it to assess its worth. Each movie industry caters to different sets of audience and are culturally and linguistically unique. comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. But if you do compare then Bollywood is cheap imitation of hollywood. The kind of trend setting movies from gone with the wind , ben hur to todays transformers
anuhind123 Says:
Aug 10, 2009 - cannot be compared to mushy , pretentious love stories that bollywood is famous for. I must have missed the news conference that all the directors, actors and movie studios of hollywood made acknowledging bollywood as the equal to hollywood. You must be making that assumption because big production companies investing in bollywood then the conclusion is wrong. They all want a piece of indian movie market . It has more to do with money than the quality of the movies made.
anuhind123 Says:
Aug 10, 2009 - As for as hollywood investing in tamil movies, time warner's warner brothers has announced that they will co-produce a Tamil film along with Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios named 'Goa'. not only hollywood but bollywood production houses are investing in tamil films because tamil films have huge audience in japan, malaysia, srilanka, and many other countries. Infact famous indian actor in japan is not srk or amir but rajinikath. Rajinikanth is the highest paid actor in india.
anuhind123 Says:
Aug 10, 2009 - Have seen the Gajini's hollywood inspiration momento. If the movie had been remade as it is, it would have flopped. Indian audience are not sophisticated enough for that. It was tamil director murugadoss who rewrote it fit india audience( by the way he directed the hindi version too). Apart from gajini, sathiya is a copy of maniratnam's alaipayude. Maniratnam's roja and bombay were tamil movies dubbed to hindi. music sensation A.R. rehaman is from chennai. India's first 3D movie is tamil

Aug 10, 2009 - As far as my grammer, this is a stupid discussion on bollywood vs kollywood(tamil movie industry) not a discussion on nuclear disarmament or an english essay contest that i have to watch my grammer. Lastly the most hilarious thing about my being childish. you are the one who judges a book by its cover and not by its content. you're the one who judges movies by the looks of the lead actor and not by their storyline or technical excellence. your view is that of a juvenile sex starved teenager.

Oct 2, 2009 - You ignorant asshole. Its a positively accurate observation and I still stand by it. Your pigish attitude is unattractive as well..and if you happen to be tamil, you fit right in.
evolvender Says:
Oct 2, 2009 - There is nothing accurate about your prejudice. The attractiveness of a language is a subjective trait, something your self-obsessed brain is incapable of appreciating. Tamil is a beautiful language with ancient roots and a wide influence. In fact, the reason you are here berating it's influence here is because you feel that your own language is inferior. It is morons like you who are responsible for much ignorance. If you cannot appreciate other cultures then you might as well kill yourself.

Jul 26, 2009 - Both Tamil and Sanskrit are classified as classical languages in India, and Tamil did NOT originate from Sanskrit. Hindi is a bastardization of Sanskrit, unlike the South Indian languages which had an ancient independent origin.
