Dec 7, 2008 - Putting something between the teeth of a person with Seizure activity is the most wrong thing to do in the moment, because you couls cut off half of the oxygene amount during the seizure

Yoshiko11 Says:

Dec 12, 2008 - You never put anything in their mouth not even before it! You put the person in "recovery position" after the seizure. The person can lay on their side to prevent chocking on vomit or fluids as they come back to awareness. Usually the breathing becomes very shallow and sometimes will stop fully but usually not. I have complex partial seizures and I don't breath well during mine- i would never want someone doing anything to me during my seizures besides keeping me out of danger.

theleet3 Says:

Feb 14, 2009 - why would you put anything! in their mouth!!

akaye10 Says:

Feb 25, 2009 - it's true, never put anything in the mouth. They're not breathing in a tonic clonic seizure anyways so you don't want them choking on your wallet. Everything else he says is right, but why does he have a giant stone mushroom in the background?

stuthekingofkings Says:

Feb 25, 2009 - you never put anything in their mouth!

Mar 7, 2009 - i had a seizure 3 days ago and u people think they shouldnt put anything beetween the mouth but im mad nobody did because i bit my toung and now i have a big cut

honeybugg0723 Says:

Mar 25, 2009 - i agree do not ever put anything in the mouth of somone having a seizure i have epilepsy and have had 2 seizures in one week last week so i know what i am talking about

vickiormindyb Says:

May 2, 2009 - I have 'Seizures Of Unknown Origin,' which just means doctors haven't pinpointed the activity on one of the tests, in which some of them place such extraordinary amounts of faith. I finally found a doctor who said, "Just b/c we haven't found it on a test doesn't mean you're not having true seizures." I never had seizures before I was in a car accident, and they were uncontrollable until my doctor prescribed Neurontin for me.

vickiormindyb Says:

May 2, 2009 - Before I started taking Neurontin, the post-ichtal period of confusion lasted for at least 2 days. Now it clears in less than a few hours.

Jun 15, 2009 - so they don't bite their tounge off

dailytrials Says:

Jun 24, 2009 - this really concerns me that even emergency personnel still believe you should place something in a persons mouth. the protocol has changed and this is old school teaching. The epillepsy foundation does not support this practice and vehemently suggests NOTHING IS PLACED IN TH MOUTH. Roll them to their side-biting your tongue is a better risk then cracking all your teeth or biting someon that breaks in your mouth and lodges in your throat blocking your airway!!

KatRob9999 Says:

Jul 1, 2009 - Yeah, I have epilesy and someone once 'helped' by trying to put a pen in between my teeth. All that happened is that they ended up cutting all the inside of my mouth!

123johnstan Says:

Jul 10, 2009 - Never put anything in their mouth, otherwise it can block their airway, and on top of that the person might not be able to brethe well as it is when they are having the seizure!

OregonCoaster Says:

Jul 11, 2009 - This information is WAY out of date - you never put something in the mouth, even if the seizure hasn't started yet. A clue to how old his info is is when he calls the seizures "grand mal" - they haven't been called that for years, the term is now "tonic clonic."

orafferty83 Says:

Jul 15, 2009 - I think expertvillage should delete this video its going to give someone the wrong idea about helping but putting something in the mouth. Please if you are reading this, please do NOT put anything into the mouth of someone having a seizure.

Annika0001 Says:

Aug 5, 2009 - PLEASE REMOVE this incorrect video, it provides harmful information regarding putting something in the mouth of someone having a "grand mal" type seizure. THIS IS SO WRONG! NEVER under ANY circumstance put ANYTHING in the mouth of someone having a seizure! Please do a search for the Epilepsy Foundation web site for the correct seizure first aid information.

smfahner Says:

Aug 9, 2009 - NEVER put ANYTHING in the mouth of a person having a seizure!!!

Rreynaertt Says:

Sep 1, 2009 - i think he said that because he dosnt want them biteing there tounge

jolenemodd78 Says:

Sep 9, 2009 - how do you report this video i rated it thinking it was a good piece of advice then i heard him say place a wallet in the persons mouth, did i hear theat piece of information corectly . that is old advice NEVER NEVER put anything in a persons mouth if they are having any kind of seizer since the person can be hurt as a result.

jolenemodd78 Says:

Sep 13, 2009 - ive tried flagging it and reporting it but wouldnt even know how to go about getting intouch with youtube to ask them to get rid of this video.

Annika0001 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - I emailed "expertvillage" to ask them to pull this harmful video and basically they said they don't care. Can everyone email expertvillage and the guy who is in this video to tell them this is harmful and to pull this video? This guy is NOT an expert - he's spreading old wives tales that are medically disproven. Just because he's in a uniform doesn't mean he's an expert on seizures.
