mmmugh Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - I love the fact that he wrote this great song, but someone please tell him to stop singing it, because it was dreadful decades ago and it's dreadful today.

lovegoodmusicz Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - I like people that write comments, but MMMUGH should stop proving his bad taste. You're just not able to appreciate a great song and performance. I can only feel sorry for you.

mmmugh Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - Tell me then, what is good taste? I appreciate Cohen as a poet and brilliant songwriter, but as a singer and live performer he does everything wrong. His use of ad lib in this recording is especially unconvincing. Anyone can hold a microphone and look like he means it, even sound like he means it, but combining that kind of oratory with music just makes a guy look silly. William Shatner proved that with his infamous recording of Rocket Man. Do it musically or not at all. Love the suit, though.

Nov 20, 2009 - Unforgetable tune always in my mind

barefeet215 Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - well ya see mmmugh the thing you must realize that it is Leonard Cohen we are dealing with here. he can use ad lib and sing however the hell he wants..and it will remain simply amazing seeing as it is COHEN.

9erfandex Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - L. Cohen is THE MAN!!!!!!

lovegoodmusicz Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - mmmugh, I saw him perform life on several occasions the last 2 years, and I couldn't find anything wrong (except performing only 3 hours ;-) ) and certainly not silly, but you're entitled to your own opinion, it's just bad taste to display it on this forum that is mainly visited by people that approve Leonard's performance. The suit has to do with his father being a taylor.

mdf4545 Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - i couldnt agree more. he is brilliant... as a songwriter, not a performer. I actually think its funny how bad he sounds.

PaulWallification Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - All of ye....remember this fucker spent years in solitude with the buddhistz...this is not the beginning or the end, this is the cycle. /bow

ajengland Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - Olufunmbi, it's an Organ. Yes, it's well played, but it dominates the whole arrangement. What I cannot understand is the what does the 12 string(? ) Mandolin player add to this song? He's giving it all he's got, but you cannot hear anything.

JikanPJ Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - find a recording of 'the partizan' from the last world tour on YT, You'll hear the plenty of the mandolin.

PaulWallification Says:

Nov 25, 2009 - I know...my bad.
