Aug 5, 2009 - Wow its nice to know that my 18 year old boy is not alone having seizures! He also has astmas so I tend to wrap him in a towel when he fits and hold him so that when he comes back he feels safe. Seems to work so you might want to try it Good Luck L x

Aug 9, 2009 - Actually, it's a smarter thing to do than just leave it. It could end up accidently hurting itself.

Sep 21, 2009 - Is there any thing to prevent the siezures from occuring? My kitty has started having them since June 2009 she had one on Saturday. It was pretty scary and thier happening every other month. She just turned 3. Any Advice?
MaXThReAT Says:
Sep 23, 2009 - Go ahead and take her to the vet and see what they say. Get a blood test done. It could be as simple as dehydration or they might not be able to tell you why. Sasha is on phenobarbital and still doing great. Nothing for months now and she was starting to have them once or twice a month.
trball03 Says:
Sep 28, 2009 - my cat just did the same thing but it only lasted for a min and then she was back to normal. It scared me to death. I have never seen her do this before. Thanks for posting this video I was able to figure out it was a seizure, and how to react if she ever has one again.
darkdj08 Says:
Oct 7, 2009 - you should not try to restain her like that it can do more harm than good
pyro2393 Says:
Oct 27, 2009 - I didnt know this what a seizure for cats looked liked, I thought mine was kind of having some sort of seizure because now i think every month or so my cat gets weird. When i say this i mean she starts loosing her balance and her tail or one of her paws starts to raise up and this lasts for about 10 mins or so. Anyone know what's wrong with her?
Superman516 Says:
Oct 28, 2009 - its so sad when after the seizure they come into like realization of what happend
Superman516 Says:
Oct 29, 2009 - well if its flailing around it might smash into a wall
MaXThReAT Says:
Oct 30, 2009 - Correct. I am not holding her down but as gently as I can, keeping her on her side since she still has back claws and has flown into the walls before. This is much safer for her as it will also keep her from biting her tongue or choking. She has bite through her tongue before. I stupidly tried to help her stop once and received a cat bite down to the bone on my finger.
DanniD Says:
Nov 1, 2009 - ow poor thing. You look a really good boss to the cat, which I knew (more) people (man) that care so much about there pet, and not what it's doing to the carpet.
VirtualBilly Says:
Nov 23, 2009 - when this occurs, cats are not only in danger of thrusting themselves into a wall head first, but also of falling down stairs, rolling over their own heads and causing serious neck/back injury, or scratching their own faces/eyes. by holding the cat down, an owner puts himself/herself in danger of being scratched, potentially to the point of needing stitches. next time, hold the cat up by her scruff and let the seizure run its course since there's nothing you can do about it anyway.
VirtualBilly Says:
Nov 24, 2009 - i know this may seem cruel, but it works and i promise the cat will forgive you. i do a lot of volunteer work at local animal shelters, but i learned this trick when i was a kid because we had an epileptic cat. my step dad would hold her that way during a seizure until the convulsions were finished, then hold her for a while afterward to reassure her. that cat's name was trina (but that's a stupid name so i called her teeny, lol), and she lived to be 18 people years old.

Jun 14, 2009 - Poor thing... I watched my grandma's cat have a seizure when it was young, due to my boyfriend waving a shiny cat toy really fast in front of it, we had no idea that the cat would have a seizure, he was just playing with it...and the cat was drooling from the mouth really bad and doing what your cat did.. As far as I know though, it's only happened once but the doctors said that my grandma's cat has the heart of an older cat.. Anyway, I hope your cat is ok and I wish the best for it..
