Jul 7, 2009 - Wrong. Macedonians had their own language and it has been referenced in literature. Alexander spoke in Macedonian to his troops because they did not speak Greek. Greek was simply the educated language of the day and many cultures used it for trade and other activities.

Oct 18, 2009 - The Greeks in Northern Greece are actually the same people as we in Macedonia but because of the brutal and forced assimilation and fear they do not speak their mother language but Greek. I do not speak out of anything else but personal experience traveling there. There are villages with the prefix Nea that are Greek speaking -actually greeks that came from Turkey after the Balkan wars. You have to search far and wide to find actual Greeks with roots in Macedonia deeper than 80-90 years.
