Jul 3, 2009 - I agree with you completely. i am a metalhead- most particularly death metal, and the parallels with that genre and the blues is apparent. death metal uses a lot of "blues notes" which is what gives it that hard hitting sound. i am acually trying to start a death metal band with a blues rhythm.

Jul 16, 2009 - Yeah, I'm agree with you. The very speedy way he plays the guitare in this song could perfectly fit with heavy or death metal. When you listen to this song, you can easily understand why Robert Johnson inspired generations of guitarists and rockers!
lostintheblues Says:
Aug 7, 2009 - a lot of Johnson's stuff is pretty easy to play, but this song is just insanely hard
f1ghtclub2k3 Says:
Aug 17, 2009 - well firstly bud, if you wan tto play blues you need to feel that pain that inspires that pain that drives that pain that gives happiness all of its flavor...you cant jsut go ahead and sing the blues if you havent ever or not in a state of depression ,heartache, or pain...it would just be not genuine

Aug 31, 2009 - lostintheblues...are you kidding me? there is nothing by robert johnson that is even close to easy..when you consider the three separate parts he plays on top of singing...dude ive heard it all now.

Sep 5, 2009 - yeah dude anyone who thinks playing RJ's stuff is easy just does not understand what he is really doing. You can easily play cheesy versions of his stuff but you can not play what he does easy if even at all. tell me what tuninh he is using first off then tell me how it is easy I have been playing for years can play blues in all sorts of tuning still for the most part have very little idea what he is doing check my vid see where i am at as a player then tell me it is easy

Oct 13, 2009 - man the runs in this song are great. slide too. I can play lil queen of spades easily. its just about being creative with what you have to work with. its the same riffs in a given song repeated with variations on the turnarounds and runs.
comradelopez Says:
Oct 21, 2009 - Regarding his tuning, he use open G, open D and standard. Many think that his records are actually slightly sped up (also giving him his characterisically slightly higher voice). No, it's not easy stuff. But it's not incomprehensible either... The other skill that RJ had was combining multiple bluesmen's styles.
bigjrritchie Says:
Oct 22, 2009 - Well If you listen closely he does not just use a G or D or standard tuning. He has a tuning that is different. To get the tone he has, and the notes he hits you have to use a cross tuning, and I have to tell you it is not easy to pick out. That is why you can hear it think it is in open G or Open D or Standard however I am telling you it is not. No it is not incomprehensible, but I dare you to play one song of his note for note, and post it...comrade
