Nov 4, 2009 - China can't simply call its loans (reserve funds issues), nor would that result in a catastrophe for the US (only half of US public debt in foreign hands, and only half of that in Chinese hands). My advice for the Chinese is the same one that Deng Xioping gave at his deathbed: lie low for another decade or two! Japan was far more powerful than China is right now in the 80s - 8 of the 10 largest banks were theirs. Where is Japan now?

Yet the analogy can be made. And China is still poorer than Japan was in the 80s. And the power of the Chinese diaspora is overblown. They integrate more than people think.
