Apr 2, 2009 - The true about SOLUN(Thessaloniki) is that the city was built in 315 B.C. from MACEDONIAN king KASANDER, and the name became from his women Thessalonika. Years latter the city was changed in SALONIKA, and from that SALONIKA, the MACEDONIANS change the city name in SOLUN! Thessaloniki is MACEDONIAN name, not Greek! Macedonians change from Thessaloniki in SOLUN and when you Greeks took from us in 1913, you renamed again in Thessaloniki! But we will get back and Thessaloniki will be SOLUN again!

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - In antiquity Makedonia was a part of Greece. "Έστιν ουν Ελλάς και η Μακεδονία" "Macedonia is a part of Greece" Strabo, Geography, book 7, Fragment 9 Polivius Book 10-27 "...Annibas put himself under oath to Xenophanis (ambassador of Philip) in front of the all gods that MACEDONIA AND THE REST OF HELLAS have..."

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - in the Roman Empire Makedonia was a part of Greece. Under the Romans GREECE was seperated in TWO provinces, ACHAIA and MAKEDONIA. The province Achaia included Peloponnese and the rest of the southern parts of Greece till the periphery of Makedonia and had as capital CORINTH. The Romans were those who separated Greece in 2 Provinces, ACHAIA and MAKEDONIA. "Macedonia and Achaia" generally means the whole of Greece (Acts 19:21; Rom 15:26; 1 Thess 1:8).

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - During Byzantine Era Makedonia was a part of Greece and Thessaloniki was the spiritual and trading centre of the Byzantine Empire. Thessaloniki was the Second City of the Empire and gained the honorary title of "Symvasilevousa" [the co-reigning city].

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - During Ottoman occupation Makedonia was still considered as part of Greece. The Tsar of Russia, Alexander II, declaring the war against Turkey, 24-4-1877 stated: "The refusal of Turkey to accept a betterment of the conditions for the christians of the GREEK peninsula, forced Russia to take up arms."

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - or do u mean the region of Macedonia during the Byzantine Era, which reached from Albania till Thrake?!?!?! LMAO! Skopje back then was either part of the Serbian or the Bulgarian state! xD And under Ottoman yoke, Makedonia was called the same area as it was in antiquity. While Skopje again was the capital city of the same named Sandzak! :-)

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - lol what parts are u talking about? in antiquity the northern borders of Makedonia reached till Achrida and Prespa. Skopje belonged to the geographical region called Paeonia (Dardania). Or do u maybe mean the empire of Alexander which reached till India? LOL

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - Historical Makedonia consists of the following parts: Orestis, Pieria, Bottiaia, Elimiotis, Lynkestis, Eordia, Mygdonia, Almopia, Bisaltia, Krestonia, Amphaxitis, Chalkidike, Anthemus, Pelagonia. No Skope, No Tetovo, No Krushevo, No Kumanovo in sight! lol

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - why your forfathers said they are bulgarians and that Makedonia belongs to Bulgaria? why did they belong to the Bulgarian Exarchate and Bulgarian Comittee? 1913, why the Bucharest Treaty mentions no maijkadomkis but only BULGARIA got defeated in this case? why Panslavists and communists were those who supported the autonomy of Makedonia? why all those together supported BULGARIA in this case? where were the majkadomskis??

OrphicHymn Says:

Apr 20, 2009 - lol hey, and the Germans call eastern Germany NEUE BUNDESLÄNDER, what does that mean?? isnt Berlin german?? LMAO "northern territories"?? LOL u mean we had for ALL our provinces names, only for MAKEDONIA we had no name?! we had the Provinces of Thrake, Epirus, Peloponnese, Attica etc but we had ONE NAMELESS province? lol Even our Halva is called Makedonikos since 1924, the basketball team A.P.S Makedonikos (Α.Π.Σ. Μακεδονικός) was founded in 1928. and so forth :-)

yianniss83 Says:

Apr 29, 2009 - "Sun of Vergina" Many people call it "the Sun of Vergina" but this symbol has a history of 3,000 years. It was the original sign which the Proto-Hellenes used as their emblem. The Macedonians as argaeadic Greeks simply continued the Hellenic tradition of their forefathers.
