EmpireOfReason Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - the simple fact is.. god does not exist

1tabligh Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - Do scientific discoveries and knowledge cause such a scientist to conclude that matter, unknowing and unperceiving, is his creator and that of all beings?

TxHxAxD Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - he totally pwned that guy.

cletusnze Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - If you lot restricted yourselves to saying you don't know one way or the other whether God exists, no intelligent person could quarrel with that. But you actually assert that God doesn't exist. This is what you're challenged about.

Sjarke98 Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - I am saying that all agnostics are atheists. The definition of atheism is lack of theism. The definition doesnt say why. It says only that atheism is the lack of theism. Thereafter there are various definitions explaining WHY you lack theism. Some are honest and say that they dont have enough information to draw any conclusions (agnostics). Some strongly believe that no gods exist (strong atheists or antitheists). (Cont.)

Sjarke98 Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - (Cont.) Some have never heard of a god (newborn babies). Some have chosen not to think about it. Some are waiting for evidence. And so on and so on. People dont just lack theism because they strongly believe no god exists. There are various reasons. And the huge umbrella over all people who lack theism, that umbrella is called atheism. So atheism says nothing about WHY you lack theism. The subumbrellas - like agnostics - do that.

cletusnze Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - If that's how you want to use the word that's fine by me. It's NOT the way I use it. However, to clarify your position you need to make it clear that you believe God COULD exist - and that you have no logical reason for believing you couldn't. Otherwise, that amounts to saying that God DOES NOT exist. Kapish?

almightybob101 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - Didn't you watch the video? Matt talks about this. He's not claiming absolute certainty when he says "I know there's no god". He's claiming practical knowledge, in the same way that people would happily say in conversation "I know there's no such thing as unicorns". I am of this same position. I don't "know" that nowhere in the universe at any time has there ever been a unicorn. But I know that there's no such thing as unicorns. And I know there's no such thing as a god.

cletusnze Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - That's just a subterfuge based on irresponsible play on words. What nonsense is "practical knowledge"? It's utterly absurd! Either he knows - WITH CERTAINTY - or he DOESN'T - and that's the end of the matter. There's no in-between position. You atheists keep clinging to your twilight mental state where you can just assert whatever you like, don't you?

Sjarke98 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - Well, you can point to anything and call it an atheist. You can point at a tree and say That's an atheist, and you can show me your mom and say This is a fish. I just think it's useless to do that, and I want people to use the correct words. Atheist means not theist. And you can't change that fact. It's not my fault you haven't bothered to think about what words you actually use before you use them. A-theist means not-theist.

Sjarke98 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - Cletusnze you need to look out for what you are doing. You have clearly not bothered to research any of this. You just walk proudly into the world with your own ideas and a brick wall around you. Now you say that atheists assert whatever they like. Uhm, that's the theists who do that. The reason most of us are atheists is becasue we DON'T want to assume whatever - like religious people often assume all kind of stuf. No one's been to heaven, and yet some assurt it's there. We REJECT that. Jesus.

almightybob101 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - So you wouldn't ever say "I know there's no such thing as unicorns/leprechauns/the Loch Ness Monster/Bigfoot"? Nothing can ever be known with absolute certainty, there's always the possibility, however small, that you might be wrong. So then by your own definition, nobody knows anything.

cletusnze Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - I ONLY claim things I know for a fact to be true - unlike atheists. Unfortunately for them, the things they SHOULD know for a fact they are unsure of - like their own existence!

almightybob101 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - How do you decide whether the fact that you know is true or not? Our own existence isn't a 100% guaranteed fact. Haven't you seen The Matrix? The senses are easily fooled, ask any magician. If they were fooled well enough, you would never know what was real and what wasn't. But that's a pointless line of speculation anyway, we can't learn anything from it. You (presumably) claim that God exists. I see no facts to support it, so I reject your claim as I reject all baseless claims.

cletusnze Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - @almightybob101 Hahahahahahah! The Matrix! Boy, you're watching far too many movies - and they're rotting your brain! Action is IMPOSSIBLE without Being! Now, if this isn't clear to you - NOTHING IS or can be! That's the starting point to ALL OTHER KNOWLEDGE!

Gooberlicious54 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - "I ONLY claim things I know for a fact to be true - unlike atheists." Huh? What do atheists claim? And please, don't be an idiot and say "they claim there's no god!" because that's a silly lie. Learn what the word means. What claims do YOU make?

almightybob101 Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - /facepalm It's an example. My point is, the senses are very easily deceived. That is how magicians make it seem like they're doing impossible things. What do you mean "action is impossible without being"? The sentence doesn't really mean anything, it's just empty rhetoric.

ZergInfestedChrist Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - I was just about to type in that this guy seemed like a reasonable theist until the last 5 seconds played :p

AtheistLurker Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - My thoughts exactly.

Alfaomegabravo Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - @almightybob101 Not at all! because knowlege and truth are not the same thing.

weepaul666 Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - Hahahaha. That was great at the end. Typical aswell. "I'm too stupid to argue back, so I'll respond with a violent threat". Brilliant

sheppaul Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - someone needs to punch that callers head in for Darwin

sheppaul Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - we exist! that is evident. Now do we exist because of a chemical reaction or Magic

cletusnze Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - FIRST OF ALL, are you SURE you exist - BEYOND DOUBT? This is MOST IMPORTANT!

cletusnze Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Ok. So do you believe then that God COULD exist - And therefore it's silly to say that He doesn't - and ANY such assertions then are illogical and wrong?
