He said that Macedonia was it's own seperate country at the time, and alexander was born there by his father philip of macedon. Philip of macedon took over greece right after the peloponnesian war. (the war between sparta and athens) so hence, philip later became the ruler of greece, and then later the rest of the world. if you don't believe me look it up.

Nov 20, 2009 - Macedonia was a Greek state as much as Athens and Sparta were. Diferent state doesnt mean diferent nation. In ancient Greece only Greeks could participate in the Olympic games and in Amfyction assembly. Guess! Macedonians participated and in the both of those Greek organisations.

Nov 21, 2009 - Macedonian was considered somewhat "barbarian" by the Greek cities prior to King Phillip (father of Alexander). By definition, Alexander was Macedonian and not Greek. However, he established the Hellenistic Age and therefore will be forever linked with Greece. Again, I stress I don't think Alexander would care what you call him so long as it's proceeded with "King". In the end, he is and shall always be the greatest warrior in history.
