There are records of pagan Romans talking about how the man the Christians worship was a criminal who was sentenced to death. And also, thousands of people don't randomly just start following somebody who never existed. If there wasn't a Jesus, then where did all these disciples, of whom we DO have historical proof, come from? So whether or not he was God, he was a man who lived and died.
