Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Nor does it create the same effect when someone else sings it. It is as if the poetry, the music and the voice are the attributes a monolithic, naturally evolved entity. As some one said before, please dont delete it ever. Just think about the feelings of some one who discovers and understands this gem for the first time. Thanks for posting it.

Sep 26, 2009 - I never knew that there was any doubt about the context of this poem. Surprised to see that there are many who still want to believe in "Loss of Mother" theory. Maybe they are incapable to handle the truth/reality. This explanation was given by Hridaynath when he visited Cleveland sometime in 1996. I was there.
