While it was a rather common place and cynical stance to take on America in general, it expressed AN ENTIRE VIEWPOINT, AN ENTIRE IDEA, with notes. even if those notes were not originally part of the song. Art is when a piece becomes greater than the sum of its parts. That is what happened in this version of the star spangled banner.
