Nov 5, 2009 - he was a real man
jm04151975 Says:
Nov 7, 2009 - It appears LBJ was behind it. His body language there on the lower right hand corner betrays an impatient man willing to pay any price to get on top. JFK will be forever remembered evern though he died before some of us were born. Here was a transformational figure
BossaNossa Says:
Nov 8, 2009 - At a point in this video LBJ begins to write something. I imagine someone has and could decipher what he wrote...?

Nov 11, 2009 - greatest presidential speech that video has been around to film...best part starts 8:24
joshatkins94 Says:
Nov 11, 2009 - All Presidents since Ike have used teleprompters at one time or another. You should watch some videos of Reagan or the Bushes giving speeches.
joshatkins94 Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - True, but the national budget is now far, far bigger than in 1962. When President Clinton left office, the US was on track to pay off the national debt by the end of 2009.
joshatkins94 Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - By the time Kennedy gave this speech there had been several earlier Mercury manned flights, but it's true that when he launched the Apollo program in his speech to Congress, only Alan Shepard had flown, for 15 minutes.
joshatkins94 Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - von Braun certainly led the effort to develop the Saturn V, and other Operation Paperclip scientists from Germany contributed immensely, but it was primarily American ingenuity and innovation that led the way to the moon. The CSM, LM, F-1, etc., etc. were developed by American companies (and, of course, the Saturn V). It's important to remember that the liquid rocket was invented in Massachusetts, by Robert Goddard, without which von Braun would not have been able to achieve his success.

Nov 17, 2009 - When JFK claps his hands at 16:47 and says, "It will be done," I got a chill. One of our greatest leaders ever.
Macgyver4096 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Crap, man, what did JFK ever do to piss you off?
Macgyver4096 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Technically, Goddard, Oberth, and Tsiolkovsky all independently conceived of liquid fuel rockets, though I suppose Goddard gets credit for actually building the first one.
joshatkins94 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - True, but like you say, Goddard was first to build (and, independently of Oberth and Tsiolkovsky, to theorize) the first liquid fuel rocket. Thought to extend my earlier comment, Goddard's achievement would not have been possible without Tsiolkovsky's, nor would his without Newton's, etc.
