92ninersboy Says:

Oct 21, 2009 - Yeah, why isn't "Barfly" available? That was one of Rourke's greatest roles.

seandeyoung01 Says:

Oct 23, 2009 - Absolutely spot on comment!

KeevH Says:

Oct 26, 2009 - he is the best fucking actor ever. PERIOD.

MrTantraMan Says:

Oct 26, 2009 - That's class right there.

MrTantraMan Says:

Oct 26, 2009 - If more people dedicated their speech aside from the obvious then people would see how really down to earth they are.

92ninersboy Says:

Oct 27, 2009 - If anyone out there wants an acting lesson - watch "The Wrestler". Rourke isn't just putting gestures and mannerisms together to impress an audience - he's creating something "real". His performance is a "real" work of art.

Kin94285 Says:

Oct 30, 2009 - man this guy has been through a lot, a fresh breath of air from all the typical hollywood prima donnas.

SupHobagg Says:

Nov 1, 2009 - holy shit HIS FACE o.o

wasteland70 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - I completely agree. He just did it, he nailed it, in his own words, he "brought it". He is amazing.

92ninersboy Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - holy shit YOUR MIND .... Rourke is the best out there. There are lots of pretty faces - he has incredible TALENT.

coolbrett Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - Couldn't have said it better myself. His performance is as good as acting can possibly get. It's appears like he's never even had acting training or anything. He simply WAS Randy the Ram body soul. It is a work of art

92ninersboy Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - Yeah, it was a work of art. As far as training (you probably know this) -Rourke was very well trained at the Actors Studio in New York. In fact, its founder, the great director Elia Kazan, said that Rourke's audition piece was the best he'd seen in 30 years.

markors13 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - legend

forloveoffilm Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - Like Ellen Burstyn before him, Mickey Rourke was robbed of an Oscar. Aronofsky has directed two of the most memorable and pitch perfect characters who get the Spirit award, but are snubbed at the Academy. Sean Penn gave a great impersonation of Harvey Milk, but that - to my thinking is not acting.

SupHobagg Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - @92ninersboy he is good...but wtf happened???? botox? please don't tell me it's that

KalinkaBrasil Says:

Nov 15, 2009 - Excelente ator!

CatchTheMouseFilm Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - ha ha,what a legend

Tribbiani1982 Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - @SupHobagg In the early 90's he had a boxing career where he had some serious face damage (spilt tongue, among other stuff) and therefore had some face operations on the nose and cheek, i believe. And he got older...57 now.

rmorte62 Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - I saw it last night and it tore me up. I keep telling people they will not believe how deeply invested in the character Rourke is. You're so right about his performance being an organic work of art. He was sublime.

rmorte62 Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - It's the same as Hank Williams III not being accepted in NAshville. If you're too real and don't play by the rules the establishment will fuck you. Rourke not winning the Academy Award simply validates the bankrupt nature of the institution.

92ninersboy Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - The Academy has totally blown its credibility. The more and more people who see "The Wrestler" the more transparent the Oscars become. Say, I'm a political liberal, but I hate political correctness and I think a work of art should be judged on its own merits, not on the cause it professes. Rourke took acting to another whole level - and he did it playing a wrestler. The Golden Globes got it right.
