The supression field that, when it goes down Kleiner urges humanity to "take action" .. and Eli Vance jokes about how he wants a granddaughter, nudging at Gordon and Alyx. Prey features a topless boss and it really isn't out of place. Unexpected, but there is no emphasis on it. So this subject has already begun to be approached in a less gratuitous and exploative way... ... and that is awesome!

All of the images were PG, there were no descriptions of actual sex acts, just a frank discussion of how a medium treats a theme. I will say that if you want to emulate Yahtzee, you 1. need to talk very fast and 2. you need to inject a healthy amount of assholery with a smidgen of self-loathing for that glorious comedic effect. Not that I'm saying you should be like Yahtzee (or that there's anything wrong with that) That said, I'm kinda hoping Mass Effect 2 pushes the boundaries even further

Oct 23, 2009 - Interesting. Two points 1. pre-ESRB Sega and Nintendo tended to be more liberal with content in games in Asia. Sega was slightly more liberal then Nintendo in Europe/Americas when it sexuality. 2. This gets into a question of appeal not just in terms of age but in terms of sexual orientation. Can we make games for gays?

Nov 7, 2009 - There is mature content in games 'cause people want there to be. Although video games are considered a childrens medium, most gamers are well above that maturity level. Do u think that they are going to want to play as spongebob for the rest of their lives? And as for sex in games people always say "What if my child gets a hold of this!" I can say since I was a kid once, that if a minor was looking for a sexual medium they would be able 2 find it much more easily in places other than video games

Nov 21, 2009 - I have watched and read any number of intelligent, sophisticated and mature stories that didn't have any sexual content, or even violence. If you think sex is a prerequisite of maturity and adulthood, you are immature and childish. Period. One of the first steps on the road to "artistic respect" (lol) is addressing sex? Please. Video game writers need to (re-)learn how to walk before running. First attain intelligence and maturity, and THEN you can consider dealing with sexual issues.
