Nov 9, 2009 - The Who didn't invent rock music, but they sure just about perfected it. Even early on, with "Substitute" and "My Generation," and especially from "Tommy" onward, The Who exhibited a lyrical maturity far beyond their contemporaries (such as Led Zep, etc.) Just seems like they had some deeper issues on their minds (at least, on Pete's). And whenever I listen to Roger on "Quadrophenia," his is the awesome rock voice that set the standard for the rest - with astonishing power, range and phrasing!
