You're confusing opiates with barbiturates, which have a seizure risk (for some people) when stopped cold turkey. No one does 2 grams of heroin a day, maybe 2 grams of *cut* heroin, but 2 grams of heroin would outright kill you. Also opiates are opiates, it doesn't matter if they are ingested, intravenous, insufflated, smoked, etc. Withdrawal is rarely fatal in heavily dependent individuals with very poor health but to attribute this solely to heroin is nonsense. Many non-fatal drugs in withdrawal can kill the very sick.

Try a full month of the worst physical illness I've ever had, the 4 or 5 days in a row without sleep, the feeling where your skin seems to want to crawl off your bones, unbearable ticks in my hands and legs, and then there's the emotional distress that lasts for almost a entire year after the physical effects have ended. Maybe its all in my head.
