Who Looks Better Shirtless? Robert or Taylor So, each time that photos from the set of any of the Twilight series movies get leaked, fans go crazy. Especially when the pics reveal Pattinson or Lautner without a shirt! Taylor most notably HAD to gain a reported 25 to 30 pounds of pure muscle in order to play Jacob in New Moon. And the actor has definitely been maintaining his beefy bod with regular workouts, but interestingly he was actually hitting the gym too hard. Taylor said in an interview that his 2-hour sessions 7-days a week caused him to LOSE muscle mass and his trainer told him that he could no longer break a sweat during workouts. The plan seems to be a good one so far for him, and for us! What do you think? On the other side of the story is Pattinson, who's also been spotted with some toned abs during the film shoot... and apparently, it's all due to his role as well. Back in March, Rob got quoted as saying when he first read the script for Twilight, he thought he didn't stand a chance to get the job because the part of Edward seemed to be ALL based on looks. He also had said he'd never go to the gym JUST for a gig, but after securing the lead vampire character, Robert reportedly felt the pressure and started to work out. Interestingly, in an interview, Pattinson said that he didn't do it in order to be muscular, but he did it to have zero fat. That being said, some people have said that Robert hates the gym and that his apparent ab muscles in the movie series are all thanks to smoke and mirrors. Yep - allegedly Pattinson's toned torso is created - or maybe it's just emphasized - with makeup, including body paint, airbrush and powder for shading and highlighting.
