Apr 18, 2009 - Good review. Much shorter and more concise than mine, and you don't constantly say "Uhh..." like I do. That "philips hole" is a non-issue. You never see it during normal use. It's only apparent, like he said, and like 5-6 inches.

May 15, 2009 - Fenix lights are awesome.. 640 lumens??? holy bejesus... That's super bright though. I would suggest something like the LD20 which is what I have. Very very bright and efficient on 2 aa batteries.

May 17, 2009 - Out of the Olight, Fenix, and Jetbeam monsters, which do you like the best?
goingprepared Says:
May 17, 2009 - Kind of hard to say. They all have their uses. I like the Olight just for its small size and portability, but the other two are very nice for the amount of light they put out and their throw. The Fenix takes AA batteries, which I personally prefer, but the Jetbeam has a huge reflector that does a really good job at throwing the light over a really long distance. I guess it depends on what you will be using the light for.

Jul 1, 2009 - you cheated!!!.. when you turned the tk40 in the backyard you also turned the light of your house at the same time so it looks brighter.... notice because when you move the tk40 the shadows dosnt move.......

Jul 27, 2009 - Why didnt they just make it run on C or D batteries?
MOEVTEC Says:
Aug 2, 2009 - does the light have a pinch of green hue?
eclipse159 Says:
Aug 11, 2009 - generally AA batteries are easier to find worldwide

Aug 15, 2009 - can u set the light , so goes directly to 630 lumens on first click

Aug 15, 2009 - dfag
goingprepared Says:
Aug 15, 2009 - Yes, it remembers the last setting you had it in, so just turn it off on the 630 lumen mode and you are good.
camarosam Says:
Sep 2, 2009 - When you compared the tk40 to the mag outside, what setting was the tk40 on? Thanks.
goingprepared Says:
Sep 2, 2009 - It was on high.
420bar Says:
Sep 13, 2009 - Because it Needs 12 Volts, Each Battery Is 1.5 Volts so if they did, it would be a big flash light. That sad thing is that this flas light does not had any advance focus system and the batteries die fast on turbo mode.
nastydasty81 Says:
Sep 14, 2009 - Do you have to run through all the modes in order to turn off the light or does one tap turn it off and leave it at the previous setting?
goingprepared Says:
Sep 14, 2009 - One tap turns it off and leaves it at the previous setting.

Nov 9, 2009 - @goingprepared - OK, I'm trying to decide whether I'm going to get the Olight M30, the JETbeam M1X, or the Fenix TK40. I'm an avid backpacker in the highcountries of both the Rockies and the Canadian Rockies, I've had to shine a light from a mountain that I'm stuck on @ night so I want something that can throw a long distance and has many different power modes to preserve my batteries when I don't need a ton of light, but I'd still like it to be as portable as possible...what would you suggest?
goingprepared Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - If you need it to shine a long distance, then there is no contest. The Jetbeam M1X is much better than the other two at lighting up far away objects. It does have a kind of bulky head, but the weight is not bad compared to the other two, especially the TK40 with its eight AA batteries.
