Nov 19, 2009 - What action are they proposing? Cap and trade? What?
FrameSticker Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Watch "The Solution," video for that. I can give you answers, but they won't be nearly as understandable as Greg's.
MG42pillbox Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Global Warming is the biggest lie in political history, and is the religion of the NWO.
billykid84 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Yeah, but look at the "bright side": Wheras most religions take money from their FOLLOWERS, this religion will be taking money from EVERYONE, whether you (as Ripley said...) "Believe it or Not"!!
billykid84 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Yes, I (and A LOT of people) believe he is askew, though good-intentioned. Moreover, I think the whole concept and "science" behind global warming is wrong. I DO NOT DISAGREE that human beings have CONTRIBUTED to global warming, but our level of contribution is MICROSCOPIC compared to earth's natural warming and cooling periods. Now you say this guy is entertaining and all that, but when he says to "pass it on", and insinuates that we need to "take action", then yes, I do take offense...(cont.)
billykid84 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - (cont.)...and the REASON I take offense is because this "action" that he is so in favor of is nothing more than sanctions, restrictions, and HIGHER TAXES! How are you going to feel when you can't drive to go see your mom because "it's not TUESDAY" (THE DAY YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DRIVE) or when the government(s) have monitors setup in your house to watch every aspect of your energy consumption that you ALREADY PAY FOR. Paranoid? Well, keep rooting this KOOK on, and remain "entertained". We'll see...
billykid84 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I know a lot of you out there think this guy's ideas are neat and maybe even SMART. DON'T BE A FOOL! And don't make any mistake about it: Mentality like this PAVES THE WAY for (more) government interference in your private lives. I (THINK) this dude has good intentions, and I don't disagree that the earth is in a "warming" period right now, but it's nothing we even have CONTROL over! Ask yourself what Uncle Sam is going to do with all of the money he's gonna take from you as "carbon taxes"?!
corncornrocks Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - You can't say you are 100% right though. Don't you think there is maybe a tiny bit of chance you are wrong? No one can say anything so surely. In which case, better safe than sorry.
bruno982 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - This video is incredibly bias
billykid84 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I'd NEVER say "there is no chance that I'm wrong". Everyone must concede that possibility. But making a "hypothesis" about the SCIENCE behind global warming, and enjoying the "spoils of victory" is NOT my issue. AGAIN, my issue is that based on someone ELSE'S hypothesis (guess) my lifestyle would be affected. I've said this before: If global warming turns out to be true, you have my FULL PERMISSION to damn me, until then, I'd rather not pay more money to the gov. God knows I give them enough...
weallknowitstrue Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - There were NO weapons of mass destruction in Iraq - just as Dr. Hans Blix said; But, the Republican media machine didn't want us to hear that. And, there is NO dangerous climate change caused by human carbon dioxide - just as the "independent scientists" are now trying to tell us! But, the Democrat media machine doesn't want us to hear that. We are made to run from one boogieman to next, as each political party achieves its own agendas for them their money mates. TheUsmcnco Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - I could do your same chart instead asking "should I go outside, if I might get struck by lightning?" Struck by lightning. T. F., inside, outside. I can ignore the risks and go outside. If I do I could get :O), or I could be hit by lightning and be killed, leaving my kids without a dad and wife a widow. OR, I could stay inside for the rest of my life, sure it would ruin my family financially and we would eventually starve to death, but hey at least I played it safe and avoided the lightning.
MathezarT Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Why will the Earth be unable to handle 380 ppm of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere given the fact that 300 million years ago carbon dioxide levels were 8,000 ppm and the Earth was able to recover from that just fine.
bluetwinky Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Some points about paleoclimatology. Our knowledge about what the worlds climate was like 300 million years ago is not as good as what it has been like for the past 1 million years. Given that understanding the idea that co2 levels were as high as 8000 ppm during the carboniferous period is not what I have read. Who says this? It is known that there were extinction events during that period. This is witnessed by the lack of trilobites and and mega insects on the menu at your local dinner.
bluetwinky Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - TheUsmcnco The NSF, the Royal Academy, AAAS, and IPCC are not telling you that it is a high probability of being struck by lightning every day of the week. They are telling you that this issue is real, and that there is something that can be done to adress the problem. Presumably they don't have to tell you to stay out of the rain.
Nightversionn Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - MIT Climate change odds much worse than thought MIT New analysis shows warming could be double previous estimates David Chandler, MIT News Office May 19, 2009 The most comprehensive modeling yet carried out on the likelihood of how much hotter the Earth's climate will get in this century shows that without rapid and massive action, ... the problem will be about twice as severe as previously estimated six years ago - and could be even worse than that.
MathezarT Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Okay, lets say that these estimates are off by an order of magnitude. And it works in your favor of global warming alarmist and it actually was only 800 ppm. That is still more than double today's level. My source for this is Drs. Howard Hayden and Bob Carter. Besides man made sources of CO2 only make up 4% of all CO2 emissions and 32.3 Gigatons of the 2,000,000 of CO2 in the atmosphere.
corncornrocks Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - By the time we realize if it is true or not, it could be too late. It is more appropriate to act ASAP, rather than later. Although I hope it isn't true, if we don't do anything we could be in big trouble.
RitaInver Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - I'm fascinated by some of you insular, parochial Americans with your conspiracy theories on the plots by the Democrats or the Republicans or the scientific bodies. Wake up to yourselves - you comprise about 4% of the world's population (and about 80% of it's red-necks) although your contribution to world pollution is generous indeed. The other 6billion of us can open our eyes, see what's happening, and (hopefully) decide to take no chances One planet, one experiment It's not all about you!
Nightversionn Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - from the AP Statisticians Study The recent Internet chatter about cooling led NOAA's climate data center to re-examine its temperature data. It found no cooling trend. "The last 10 years are the warmest 10-year period of the modern record," said NOAA climate monitoring chief Deke Arndt. "Even if you analyze the trend during that 10 years, the trend is actually positive, which means warming."
WMBrown Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - i think that it's because a lot of people (not nessessarily americans, you can find this in any culture) are unwilling to accept the possibility that they may be wrong. they invest so much time and energy into reinforcing their beliefs that if they are proven wrong, then it's like they have some sort of large scale identity breakdown. being wrong isn't going to make anyone's worth any less... hell, it takes a strong mind and mature individual to be able to admit when they ARE wrong.
Nightverslonn Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - As the dominant greenhouse gas, water vapour is far, far more important than CO2. Dire predictions of future warming are based almost entirely on computer climate models, yet these models do not accurately understand the role or water vapor—and, in any case, water vapor is not within our control.
billykid84 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Then you know what to do, right? Or were you waiting for INSTRUCTION? I'll tell you what: starting tomorrow, drive 25% LESS mileage than you normally do, and continue this indefinitely, ALSO start donating 10% of your income (weekly) to ANY kind of organization that will help PREVENT global warming. I'm sure you will be an inspiration to your friends neighbors. I figure since your so in favor of this, you might as well be the one to START ACTING (or does it not sound like a good idea anymore?)
MrSmarterthenyou Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - Al Gore just resolved why Earth has heated up .45 Degrees, I knew he could do it he's such a smart man.;-} Al Gore was tired of all these so called educated minds telling us that global warming was a myth to make him rich that he put his scientific mind to the task. He got the truth out on the Tonight Show telling Conan all about how we need to put the heat from 1km under our hot crust and let the "several million degree earths core" work for us not just warm the planet. Thanks Al

corncornrocks Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Haha ok. I mean when you say he is a dork, are you saying he is wrong, or what? And he said himself he is taking the whole thing light-hearted, as to not take himself too seriously, and the result is entertaining.
