Oct 19, 2009 - You need to either be a scientist or a pilot. Aero Engineering will definitely open the possibility of designing spacecraft but really there's no need for an Aerospace Engineer during a space mission. Aerospace Engineering is an awesome field. I'm just telling you so you know that it's not the best career path if you want to end up in space.

jetacewaqas Says:

Oct 19, 2009 - Well yeah, I plan on pursuing a PhD in rocket propulasion after getting my master's. But Neil Armstrong was an Aeronautical engineer :), there have been a lot of aerospace engineers that have gone into space, but the thing is that they are not able to pilot the spaceship, they are basically only onboard to do research.

largesatsuma Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - I thought Armstrong was an air force pilot.

jetacewaqas Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - He was a test pilot and and an aviator. But he had a bachelors in Aeronautical engineering, and a masters in Aerospace engineering.

BamaChris Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - The space shuttle missions of the last 30 years or so pale in comparison to the Apollo moon missions.

Oct 22, 2009 - Which engine is firing @ 3:12?

Oct 23, 2009 - He was a pilot and was one of the main testers for the X15 Rocket propelled plane.

vadergamefreek Says:

Oct 23, 2009 - those are 4 small solid rocket engines on the sides of the fairing between the first and second stage.

largesatsuma Says:

Oct 25, 2009 - excellent movie except at 1:51 to 1:55 wives are looking up at three miles away you would be looking straight

Davidgruntslayer Says:

Oct 28, 2009 - Nearly 400 feet of sheer power! Such an amazing sight. I can't wait till the Constellation Program begins sending guys back!

warossmann Says:

Oct 29, 2009 - Gigantic these sub-ultra sound dynamics. The best New Year ever for all launcher Time. I love those things. Walter from Germany!

loboguara1 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - Obama cancelled it. Sorry. You'll have to watch the Chinese launches.

loboguara1 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - Nope. Obama cancelled it. The Ares 1-X was it. No more Ares. Once upon a time, America could ride the thunder to the heavens. Now we're more concerned with putting handouts in the hands of people who don't want to work. Shame.

Davidgruntslayer Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - I heard that he was only canceling a portion of it. I knew they were cutting Ares IV, but they were supposed to keep I and V. I also heard that they were extending the time table to Mars. I mean, unless some news has come out very recently that I hadn't heard, I thought they were just scaling back.

Darthbelal Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - Yes, fund the space program and you get men on the moon, fund bailouts and handouts and you get a whole new generation of people who can't take care of themselves, it's a crying shame.

defenderoFreedom Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - obama is not funding the space program?? no more Aries-X1 ??????? this is news to me

Volvagia70364 Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - Any links to these statements that Obama canceled Ares?

schoenveter Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - great soundtrack!

SparwoodApple Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - You are an idiot - Since 2001 every social problem has increased. More people live in poverty, more children live in homes where their parents cannot provide all meals, and more people are starving.............somehow having a cool rocket negates this...... i don't even know where to start on this.

andreiclawhammer Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - "This is it, a few bumps and we're all in the mail." Such a great line, and great movie. i am so pissed my DVD copy has sound issues.

leotard7230 Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - No one gets it. Conservatives only care about keeping corporate America in charge and liberals wine and cry about how we're killing the planet. To quote George Carlin "the planet isn't going anywhere, we are" and Arthur C. Clarke stated "the reason the dinoaurs are extinct is because they didn't have a space program." Bottom line, this planet is dying and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. We have to leave and find somewhere else to live. No one said it would be easy.
