Nov 4, 2009 - I'd refer you to Paul Davies on this subject of Cosmology. He points out that there is no reason for the Universe to be as it is. This is why many intelligent theistic philosophers apply the fine-tuning argument for the existence of god. Tweaking the constants of the Universe would make the life uninhabitable for more complex living organisms. To get around the enormous improbability of a Universe being conducive to life, some scientists consider the multiverse hypothesis, which is pure fantasy.
manhunt48 Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - I'm sorry lol, but it's so easy to see how full of crap you are. Firstly Origins have NOTHING to do with evolution. Cosmology has NOTHING to do with evolution. a singularity is not "nothing". For fuck sake. . .Why is it so hard for you people to understand? . . . NOBODY apart from your strawmen say "something came from nothing" or " it was by accident/chance". . . . I challenge you to find a single scientific peer reviewed journal that says anything thing like that.
manhunt48 Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - really, god isn't magic? Well lets see how he creates the universe according to the myths. Some say he wills it, some say he speaks it. That's bloody magic!!. still you're assuming that there is a god besides the fact the only thing you've given is "complexity, i dunno how it happened, therefore GOD" Come on, stop pretending to be this stupid. FFS take any moral action, you'll see they benefit society, and vice versa for immoral. they have everything to do with each other.
manhunt48 Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - Oh please. . . to bring probability into it you would have to understand exactly how universes form. . . And you clearly dont have a clue. It's more then possible for there to only be one way for a universe to be so there can't be any 'tweaking' involved. So come on then, explain to us why the idea of a multiverse pure fantasy. Explain how you've figured out what the smarted minds on this planet haven't. . .
athlete117 Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - I am not going to respond to an aggressive rant where you use language like that. You've just ruled yourself out of further conversation.
manhunt48 Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - Oh please. . . grow up. . . it get frustrating when every single time it just end up with having to keep repeating myself because you people refuse to understand. Man up and address the points. . . otherwise you just reinforce the idea about the stereotypical creationist cowardliness and dishonesty.
Manguneshane Says:
Nov 6, 2009 - Well, over all, Science holds more logic over religion. "somthing came from nothing" is just a soft-term conscept for "infinity". Nothing began, It simply has been. other-wise people get stuck with the nausiating endless fight of "what came befor that?" Which, nearly every religious person can never give a logicly given responce to.

Nov 7, 2009 - I still say that's the wrong set of the 10 Commandments. The real set is the Exodus 34 ones. Of course, being an atheist, what would I know, right?

Nov 11, 2009 - How is the multiverse pure fantasy. Creation from nothing without God is proven to be possible. Why can't a universe come into existence somewhere.

Nov 13, 2009 - Hilter wasn't a vegetarian, this is a common myth, liek the one about him having one ball. He was famous for writing about how much he loved the taste of lamb and ate it almost daily.
Shavarnarak Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - Actually homophobia is one form of bigotry that doesn't come exclusively from religion. Machismo is at least as big as a source of homophobia, if nowadays not actually a bigger source. Even amongst people who are not religious and who claim not to be homophobic. Just saying. There's hordes of insecure men who are utterly terrified of being seen as gay for some reason, and thus are in effect often VERY homophobic. Or at least mildly so.
Shavarnarak Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - In fact I posit that hatred of anything that's not like a person is a common human trait, that not only inspires things like homophobia also inspires racism, xenophobia and those sorts of things. Humans after all, are essentially just a pack of apes, and like apes in a pack everything outside the pack is instinctively seen as a competitor, and thus treated with hostility. And as pack apes humans are obedient to pack law (which is culture.) Religion in that context is merely an excuse.
Shavarnarak Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - I think a lot would be better if humans where a lot humbler. The first step to overcoming humanity's more unfortunate ape instincts, would be for humans to actually have the spine to fucking admit they ARE apes with these instincts. Humans are really sickeningly arrogant about themselves, and how great they are.
Shavarnarak Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - Anyway my rants on humanity aside... I think I could argue also that christians will see atheists as immoral not so much because they don't have any morals, but because said christians (usually fundies) perceive atheists as having the wrong morals, and unless the atheists accept fundie morals, then to the fundies, they are immoral per default, because they only see their views as moral. And of course rational people know fundie morality is bullshit or even evil, so... no solution there either.
nihilusmaster Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - I don't think atheists issue fatwas.
athlete117 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Don Exodus, do you believe in memes? I read all sorts, from Dawkins' selfish gene, extended phenotype and so on, and the one thing that strikes me with evolutionists is that they hang their coat on assumptions and speculation which inevitably translates into wild extrapolation of things which tend to be accepted by everybody. I only ask because Dawkins would disagree with you simplistic comparison of the rest of the animal kingdom and human beings. He recognises the need for more than genes.
athlete117 Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - If you accept that human beings are a much more complex case, are you not left scratching your head as to where we derive our own innate sense of morality? So what would you suppose? Meme pools?
TAz69x Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - What could I invent that will be humanity's biggest nuisance in the future, ...hmmm...? And so it came to pass, the Bible was born.

Nov 19, 2009 - whitney (donexodus2), i love your videos, but that being said, i consider you a sell-out. as a nonbeliever myself for years, it's hard for me to imagine you being proud to declare yourself a Christian and then deconvert. don't take it as a insult, but why the change of heart? was it because pressure from other users? thanks for the video and cheers;) -king mike

Nov 20, 2009 - Would you imagine - 2000 years from now we could have a religion - Elvisism. Because he was seen alive after he died. If someone would just write a gospel and start preaching it ...

Nov 21, 2009 - It's in Futurama. Opraism, too.

athlete117 Says:
Nov 4, 2009 - I've already explained to you, but I don't think it's sinking in, what is beneficial and unbeneficial has no bearing on the nature of morality.
