Sep 3, 2009 - i'd add Michael Haneke's amazing "Time of the Wolf" and Caro and Jeunet's classic "Delicatessen".

neofelisman Says:

Sep 4, 2009 - You're going to have to add District 9 now!

hadr0n Says:

Sep 4, 2009 - Yeah, saw it the other day. Totally awesome.

VannevarBush Says:

Sep 5, 2009 - As said : "the opposite of utopian" ..in the sense that an utopia presents the dream about what a society should be and a "dystopia" or "negative utopia" is the nightmare instead, starting as a dream. Mostly in dystopian scenarios the idea was meant to be good and turned out to be bad. The latter is not necessary but nevertheless it is common.

VannevarBush Says:

Sep 5, 2009 - Well...

Sep 5, 2009 - equilibrium by farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

hadr0n Says:

Sep 6, 2009 - Equilibrium is like a really shit Matrix crossed with... shit!

ace1dominant1 Says:

Sep 6, 2009 - DUDE, its an excellent realistic example of dystopia compared to an unrealistic world of matrix where machines make humans to harness energy, i'am gonna shit my self. Basically dystopia should show government/society attempting to exert control over free thought, authority, energy, freedom of information which is illustrated perfectly on this movie bro, respect dawg,

hadr0n Says:

Sep 7, 2009 - The cinematography was half-arsed the plot was superfluous and the casting was totally random. It had the feel of an 80s B-movie and not in a good way.

hadr0n Says:

Sep 7, 2009 - I'm sorry but I just found the whole thing to be tiresome and derivative. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

ace1dominant1 Says:

Sep 7, 2009 - I totally disagree, thats like saying higgs boson actually exists its crazy.

bugzteen Says:

Sep 14, 2009 - i agree with that =]

dukes0916 Says:

Sep 21, 2009 - Dude! Great list! I've seen most of the flics on it I agree with the majority! Never really thought of the Fifth Element as dystopian, but now that I think of it... it works! A couple more you may wish to check out (if you haven't already) are; A Boy His Dog, Zero Population Growth, Things to Come and Quintet. Also, I saw that you were thinking of doing a Hitchcock collection! Please consider 39 steps!

Sep 28, 2009 - Thanks a lot for posting these suggestions. Looks like some real gems and many I've never heard of. Oliver Reed in ZPG definitely looks classic!

Oct 3, 2009 - District B13...really? That's like saying Hackers was a good film. All flash, no substance.

Miriada87 Says:

Oct 5, 2009 - Well, must admit, never heard of Puzzlehead and as far as for District B13, it's a pretty cool action flick, i enjoyed it quite a bit but there's definitely no place for it in a list of dystopian sci-fi movies....
