Nov 16, 2009 - I got 15. The first three questions don't force me to take a definite position and I only answered no to the third one. It's the "may exist" or "may have been involved in" that kept me from denying everything. I'm agnostic as I have come to accept that all arguments for God are either completely bogus (ontological arguments of course) or cannot logically conclude the existence of God.

In it, he gives a Humean account of the human mind and human thoughts, and then assumes that if there is a "designer" God, the same account applies to Him and His thoughts. This anthropomorphic assumption hinders his argument. This is because classical theists do not believe in this extension of human psychology onto their diety and thus Dawkins doesn't even argue against the God he is trying to disprove.

Nov 16, 2009 - Anyways, there are a lot of prominent philosophers and scientists that believe in God and a lot that don't. They call Dawkins following "Popular Atheism" for a reason. So before you start feeling proud of scoring a zero on the index make sure you are well informed beyond the scope of Dawkins interviews, debates, writings etc. I recommend "Atheism and Theism", an up to date debate on the issue between two prominent philosophers. (Smart and Haldane)

Nov 16, 2009 - I'm a strong anti-theist too, but still only just fell within the 'normal' category. A score of zero can only be achieved by making assumptions about the unknown/unknowable, and this would constitute a belief similar to theism.

I don't understand how you could say the end was hateful, however, since in order to get such a high score, you have to believe that pretty much everyone around you is going to HELL and deserves to be there. That is about as sick as you can get, and if you truly believe it, you *are* Batshit crazy and a blight on our society. It's when people who believe that hold positions of power that we get stuff like the Inquisition.
