Oct 8, 2009 - You know it

MissMiscellanea Says:

Oct 8, 2009 - I remember watching them after school on "Where the Action Is" hosted by Dick Clark. It seems like it was on about 3 times a week, and they were sort of like the house band. They were a very raucous garage-type band -- the American Revolutionary thing was a tongue-in-cheek response to the British Invasion. I remember the cheerleaders at my high school used to do a routine to "Kicks" at pep rallies -- the first only routine to a pop song I remember being used. The Rascals were a similar band.

steve89z Says:

Oct 10, 2009 - they are all dead except 1?

ChicagoJoe57 Says:

Oct 11, 2009 - I think the original "Where the Action is" was on after school five times a week for the first season. It then became a longer t.v. show on Saturdays called "Action" for a few seasons. Paul Revere and the Raiders were the shows number one house group. Tommy Roe made a lot of appearances too. The Rascals are talked about where I live now - New Jersey - because I think they were from around Newark?

70sforever1 Says:

Oct 17, 2009 - No - Paul is still alive. So is Mark Lindsey, the singer. Don't know about the rest of them but I've never heard of any of them passing on.

68enxy Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - Mike Smith, the drummer, is the only one that I know for sure has died. Where did you get this info?

redcar96 Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - Drake Levin died this year on July 4. RIP Drake....

bjorntooski Says:

Oct 27, 2009 - We Saw Them live in Olympia Wash at the Evergreen Ballroom and Skateland . we all danced our asses off . It was great Dance music

terry9911 Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - I'll never forget hearing this song at a Carl Caspers Car Show at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio. They had a huge slotcar track racing slotcars and the shows were so huge back in the mid 60s. Cars chrome were everywhere and this 12 yr old boy was simply amazed by it all.

Pumper4 Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - Drummer Mike Smith and lead guitarist Drake Levin have passed away. Bassist Phil "Fang" Volk, Mark Lindsay, Guitarst Jim "Harpo" Valley and Paul Revere are very much alive. Don't know about original Raider bassman "Doc" Holiday.

filmbuff000 Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - I was at many, many of the WTAI tapings. Also later Happening 68 and 69. I don't remember a name change to Action but I could be wrong. Keith Allison, Hard Times... quite a few regulars... but yes the Raiders were definitely #1.

ChicagoJoe57 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - I thought it changed to Action when it aired on Saturday instead of during the week? I cannot be 100 percent sure as I read it on the internet.

filmbuff000 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Well, Joe, you know what they say about remembering the sixties. ;o) Like I said, I could be wrong but I don't remember a name change. I don't remember details like it switching to weekends, either, but that could probably have been the case. I just remember coming home from school every afternoon and looking to see if I was on camera that day. If you want to chat about the show, send me a PM.

madshadows830 Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Great fucking song! Always was and still is.

Doubleiron Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - When I first heard Paul Revere and the Raider's song " Just Like Me ", it tweaked my attention to the group. After hearing " Hungry " in 1967, I was hooked. I bought the 45 single and would play it over and over on my parent's stereo, the floor model type with the stereo / radio / TV combo...... used to crank up the bass ( when no one was home ).....awesome. I still have almost all PRR's LP's they produced, even some 8 tracks. I happy to see the band's music is still enjoyed and endeared.
