Oct 4, 2009 - you are fucked in head. folk / power metal is one of the hardest to sing and play in the whole metal category. shit like screaming requires no talent whatsoever, you basically just scream off some crap and go off with a sore throat. power metal requires extremely high notes in many parts and not everyone can sing like that. also songs are usually longer than 5 mins, and solos are amazing. everybody can scream or sing low note song.

Oct 9, 2009 - I beg to differ, it took me FOREVER to learn to scream properly. It takes practice and skill just like singing does, it's just a different method of using your voice. You have a poor interpretation of what screaming in metal really is. If you do it properly, your throat won't be sore. It takes technique to do, so like I said, it does take talent and skill. I appreciate both screaming and singing like this, and I especially like them together, not so much a fan of modern singing however.

Hadcore metal or death metal or simply rock does not require you to hit such high notes . eg: 1:58 . screamo requires little or no talent at all to scream. every person can scream to the mic , but not everyone can hit high notes. so see the difference? also power metal such as dragonforce goes on for 7-8 mins, rhapsody - one song for 17 mins, (some talking) but it is much harder to sing 3 min screamo.

Oct 10, 2009 - You don't get it, screaming is ACTUALLY a technique that takes time and skill to learn properly just like it does singing. Try and scream for 5 minutes, and you'll see that 1) you'll sound like shit and 2) you'll be very sore after, in fact by the 2nd minute you would probably lose your voice, because you just think that it's all about screaming your lungs out and going insane.

Same goes for singing, you can desecrate your vocal chords from malpractice in singing just as much as you can with screaming. Also, that statement about death metal and singing high notes? Listen to Into Eternity, Stu Block sings higher than the singer from Luca Turilli.
