Oct 10, 2009 - Oh Billie ! You are so sexy!

jhozae Says:

Oct 10, 2009 - You're welcome. Will say, about Madonna, that when she started out her videos were among those that got MTV going. Back then TV's actually changed channels with a clunk, And the remotes were clunky clickers that actually clicked. And somebody had to explain what cable was to me. "You gotta pay?!" Now look at tech and she's still going.

jhozae Says:

Oct 10, 2009 - I think that he is answered by the sheer number of people who watch all her You Tube postings simply cause it say Billie Holiday. I guess I should eventually remove that comment!

Tullius Says:

Oct 10, 2009 - Voice, interpretation, vocals, feelings, everything matches. Perfect. What an outcome! She will still be heard in hundred year's time, if the world still is. Billy Holiday forever.

Nomad1718 Says:

Oct 10, 2009 - Now this is what happiness and love sounds like. Can't wait to sing it to my kids.

jhozae Says:

Oct 11, 2009 - Well said!

jhozae Says:

Oct 11, 2009 - Have you ever heard her "God Bless the Child"? She actually wrote that, and it's beautiful. I'd heard it as a song by Blood, Sweat Tears, and only found out it was hers a few years ago.

RedPepaZA Says:

Oct 11, 2009 - Billie Holiday was the bomb!

bigmommawithlipgloss Says:

Oct 16, 2009 - whos og owner of this song? is it billie?

jhozae Says:

Oct 17, 2009 - I'd assume it would be the Gerwhin Bros estate. Though after 70ish years it might be in the public domain.

wolkowy1 Says:

Oct 19, 2009 - She was a great singer!

campeaodetudo100 Says:

Oct 19, 2009 - Janis' version is deeply emotional, but Billie's shown a delicious swing at her turn. Love to both of them, my preferred blues singers.

jhozae Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - Totally agree. Except for Billie, every singer either belts it out, or goes the deep, slowm emotional route with Summertime. Billie's is the only one I know that is so light and jazzy. It really sounds like a lullaby anyone could sing, except for her instinctual timing. On, I also loved Janis.

campeaodetudo100 Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - jhozae, thanks for your kind comment. Long live Billie and Janis. :)

belitnakoff Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - I love this version. I kind of recall a rock and roll group from the 1960s doing Summertime but can't recall which band did it.

jhozae Says:

Oct 20, 2009 - Interesting, Don't know why, but the first that sprang to mind was Blood, Sweat Tears. Then the Mamas and the Papas. Mama Cass could have done something like Billie, with her voice. Anybody out there know?

aznp1n0y123 Says:

jhozae Says:

Oct 28, 2009 - must be a swingin band

jhozae Says:

Oct 29, 2009 - The sad thing is that I'm old enough to know what those are. LOL So, you guys really do swing!

mcporter1990 Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - Sam Cooke also did an amazing rendition of this song. It's a great piece

madamerotten Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - The Zombies performed "Summertime" on their 1965 debut album, "Begin Here."

jhozae Says:

Nov 12, 2009 - I knew someone would come through! Really? I HAVE to find that! The Zombies were/are one of my favorites bands singing some of my favorite songs. Thanks!!!

bumhaskins Says:
