Nov 17, 2009 - I beg of you not to take away from this tragic tribute a hatred of any fellow man of any race. This song is about literally the fruit that hatred bears, and to assume the guilt of a race in general, white or black, creates only hatred of the same ilk as the men in the south who committed the horrific lynchings featured in this song.

Nov 18, 2009 - just a youngster passing by i never knew some music could be so powerful in its meaning. dont know too much about american history but after googling lynching and listening to this song a second time over i could picture the sorrow and gruesome atmosphere so clearly in my head. utter disgusting era that was but take nothing away from the song i am awestruck and just dumbfounded by such a brilliant work of art, especially coming from her time. you dont hear music like that these days. bravo !
