Oct 17, 2009 - I don't think you understand that this video is intended to teach people how to do an arm bar. That's it. Likely scenarios don't mean shit. As long as you're learning the material, that's all that matters.

Oct 23, 2009 - I really belive that BJ is great and street effective, but a tough Tea kwon do fighter can deliver powerful strikes that are also very dangerous I think everyone can be caught out in a street fight, so lets not dis-respect other martial arts
ddentino1 Says:
Oct 23, 2009 - I am not being dis-respectful, I simply stated the truth. Also what I did not state was that after rolling (sparring) for only 15 minutes he was in the bathroom throwing up. In his own words he said "shit...never realized BJJ was this intense. We never trained this hard in Tae kwondo." Thats his words man. I never said anything like Tae kwondo is crap. Like I said I just stated the facts.
ddentino1 Says:
Oct 23, 2009 - I never said anything like "Tae kwondo sucks." I am not disrespecting. I just stated the truth, my experience. Tae kwondo is effective, however, according to Atlanta police department and other sources I don't have room to mention, 80% of street fights end up on the ground. For this reason their police academy trainees are taught bjj; Fact. No disrespect.

Oct 24, 2009 - Also why limit yourself to one Martial Art? I take BJJ/Jujitsu and MMA it's best to know as much as possible if you can.

Oct 24, 2009 - hahaha bj stand for a whole nother different ting lol
ddentino1 Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - I don't limit myself, I train in Muay Thai as well. By the way, If you train in more than one form of martial arts, that is MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts. You mix different styles in your training to be the most effective.
ddentino1 Says:
Oct 25, 2009 - Don't know who put the poor comment, thumbs down on my my post, but I would like to know what is poor about it. I did a 15 page research paper in college recently and recieved an A. If you think my comment is inaccurate, I'm not going to argue, I don't have time. However if you would do the research yourself you'll find what I said to be true and factual.

Oct 27, 2009 - he must have had a crappy instructor. all martial arts should focus on endurance
LiL32589 Says:
Oct 28, 2009 - type in "grappling little and pupi" or "grappling little and matt", both fights end with an armbar
ddentino1 Says:
Oct 28, 2009 - Listen if you or anybody else has never taken bjj, you don't understand how it compares. Sure, every style focuses on endurance, of course it does. This guy wasn't the only guy to come into our class from another style of martial arts and say "holy crap, this is kicking my ass." I have seen many. Only wrestlers usually hang in there. You don't understand the physicality that bjj imposes. Its not about bjj being superior, its just the demand that bjj puts on the individual.

Oct 30, 2009 - Thank you soo much every single martial art has a advantage and disadvantages

Nov 2, 2009 - Question- What happen to the s mount? IF you are trying to block the arm bar, while being mounted you should have your hands in the prayer position. A proper S mount will stop it. Why didn't you cover it?

Nov 8, 2009 - do you know if there is a big difference between bjj and regular jj? I wanna start doing some martial arts and the closest class to my house is a jiujitsu class. I have to take like a 1 hour buss to get to a bjj center
fitzmorris Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - jj is proberbly a little better for deffense (unless you want to learn alot of ground work then bjj) other wise jj is the better choice, because you get standing technic and ground.
ddentino1 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - Hey Popstarmagasine, first let me say that it would depend on the jiu jitsu class you walked into. Some might be closer to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu than others. One that I walked into one day was very different. That said "Brazilian" jiu jitsu is generally different than just "jiu jitsu." Jiu Jitsu would stick more with its Japanese roots, which is what Carlos Gracie learned from Esai Maeda in 1915 and Helio Gracie (Carlos Brother) later on developed into what is known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Peace
ddentino1 Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - Correct, however, for demonstration purposes to show how the arm bar works the S mount or any other form of defense here is averted. It would defeat the purpose of teaching the offense of the mount as opposed to the defense of the mount. Hope that answers your question.
jackylin24 Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - I'm studying various different Kung Fu styles for street defense, but BJJ is more than worth to learn in the streets as well (not just in the ring). Yes Its true, you don't wanna take an opponent down in street situations b/c there is always a chance where a friend of his can come out of nowhere and kick ur skull in or stab u. But Its good to know how to get out of mounts and holds. It's not smart to count out a certain style or form. There is always something in there that's worth learning.
Outermainstream Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - Why not both? lol
perdedor3571 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - its safe to say your not going win against a group of people. unless you get into an altercation with a group of girl scouts. just try to get out of there. do shit that will disable your attackers and get the fuck asap.

Nov 21, 2009 - All good to know but when it kicks off on the street, you need to stay on your feet.
