Aug 29, 2009 - How about we make police and fire protection "for profit", litstomper? Health care is a basic human RIGHT in the rest of the industrialized western world.
Watcher4187 Says:
Aug 30, 2009 - You need to read up on natural rights if you think health care is a right.
Scottyzpt Says:
Aug 31, 2009 - No, healthcare isn't a natural right.....but when a country chooses to make it a right in a country, recognizing that the profit motive isn't how health care decisions should be made. I've been 50 years as a health care professional, and am well aware of many of the unwarrented denials from Insurance companies. Scotty
litstomper Says:
Aug 31, 2009 - thom hartman uses this right for socialism and the thing is that fire and police is local government. not national government. like if states want to vote them selves Obama care in their state they can. the human right most talk about is taking the rights of some to live free and gives it to those who give nothen for it
lazrul Says:
Sep 1, 2009 - Ed has the best show on tv. Like it or not he is riding the leqading edge. You go Ed tel all the haters why they are wrong
hms08KY Says:
Sep 1, 2009 - Thanks Ed, and Mr Greenwald. I've just returned from visiting relatives in Canada--all getting state the art health care--tiemly, high tech and humane. No medical bill ever arrives. They pay slightly more in taxes but end up with more disposable income because their . wages are not eaten up with co-pays deductibles, etc. As to the "live free" folks--I'd suggest that Canadians are living mighty free--and free from the worry of medical bankruptcy.

Sep 3, 2009 - I thought Kief Uber Alles Man was a hack. these guys are like sylvester, and frank stallone gremlins. MSNBC is wee-wee water.
allgoo19 Says:
Sep 4, 2009 - litstomper: "why are so many.." It's not jealous they're speaking from. Health insurance is not a clean industry. Google, "health care, monopoly, price fixing, pre-existing" You'll see how the industry works. That doesn't even include $millions of lobbying money to influence the government. Do you call it a free market to keep it monopoly by paying money to the politicians?
dilireus Says:
Sep 4, 2009 - Jealous of profits? You have to be kidding. Are you even aware of what's going on? These profits that we are so jealous of come from denying claims, which result in people dying unnecessarily. PacifiCare alone has denied 39.6% of all claims over the past year. Maybe you're ok with paying thousands of dollars a year for health insurance and then having claims denied when you get sick (and you WILL eventually), but most rational people are not.
dilireus Says:
Sep 4, 2009 - I really have a hard time understanding why so many people support the private, for-profit health insurance industry. We are the only industrialized country in the world that does not provide healthcare as a basic human right. We also pay more for healthcare per capita than any other country on the planet, yet our average life expectancy sucks. We're #50 in the world. Canada, with its evil socialized medicine is ranked #8. Our lives should not be a for-profit enterprise.
litstomper Says:
Sep 5, 2009 - I still can't under stand it still. greed is not wanting to keep what you (me) have, its taking it from me and giving it to those who dont earn it. the government is greedy. all this does is enflame those who are zero libality voters who dont care about taxes because they pay none or insurance. so yea this is to help those greedy folks take from those who earn it. also love the debate ed had with wilkow...oh yea.. too chicken to debate. love you ed
dilireus Says:
Sep 5, 2009 - Why don't you go ahead and say you don't want your tax dollars going to blacks and Mexicans. Just man up and admit it.
schboom Says:
Sep 11, 2009 - Greed is "An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth". Given that people's contractual agreements with their insurance companies are being broken by those companies, I'd say those profits are not deserved. Given that those companies already were posting good returns, I'd say those profits were not needed. So yes, those companies and their officers are GREEDY.
lazrul Says:
Sep 14, 2009 - This debate is very sad in and of itself. The fact people are denying others healthcare for profit is pretty shocking. Whats even more shocking is the fact this is even being looked at as a debate. Goes to show crazy people have way to much influence on our scociety. Not to mention the fact the rich can so easily turn the poor on themselves in defense of the rich peoples agenda its just amazing.
litstomper Says:
Sep 15, 2009 - I see that when you have a disagreement with your polocies , you call people names. its not that and it is sad a true debate is never done. I have some debates ed did and as with most on the wrong side, when they lose or are losing the debate, you all resort to name calling and shouting. classic. also if this is a choise, why so many fines to not use it?
litstomper Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - ifnyou watch, the hit words is about how much these guys make in an attempt to creat jealousy in those that dont even pay for their health care. the zero liability voter has no skin in the game and will protest anything. they care nothen who pays because they dont. and when jealousy lags, use raceism. always a fav.
stama9 Says:
Sep 22, 2009 - why does Greenwald always have those glasses on his slick head? Lend yourself some credibility. Take them off!
DrJHAdams Says:
Sep 24, 2009 - This issue is absolutely true. For profit health insurance corporations, who have fiduciary duty to turn massive profit to their shareholders, have absolutely no place in healthcare. The first step in whatever reform is proposed by congress - must be to strike this from our health system. Please watch my videos, Healthcare Reform 101 - BLOODMONEY.
bpartoens Says:
Sep 29, 2009 - Prior to Hemsley, William McGuire was CEO. Google him. Back dating stock options, a golden parachute of over a billion-time to hold our elected officials responsible for not supporting change.
edmondbangura Says:
Oct 2, 2009 - the health insurance companies are the pimps and we the people are the bitches
StumpyClark3217 Says:
Oct 7, 2009 - You can't privatize basic rights like health care because people end up gaining when they don't provide the services that they are supposed to provide. If people are making money by NOT providing you the services that you pay for, the system is BROKEN! Its so obvious, the people who see otherwise are brainwashed! I am Canadian, so I don't have this problem, still as I have a conscience, I feel too bad for all of those sorry souls who are denied these basic rights. SMARTEN UP DOWN THERE
nafaidni Says:
Oct 10, 2009 - Yes, I'm also against abortions, but I'm not going to whine about it so much if other people use tax money of mine for it. There are so many tax dollars being levied that I'd probably be paying 5 cents a month or so for abortions. I'm fine with that. You have to be empathetic. You need to care a bit for other people and the problems they have before saying, "it's your fault for not being able to pay to live". Right now, right-wingers anti anti-reform lobbyists are just being pathetic"
KGC1863 Says:
Oct 29, 2009 - ha i think ed is drunk again ! thank god glen beck has better ratings , so America is not left wing .
cannuckistan Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - You americans have lived for so long in this nutty system that you think it's the only way it has to be....but that's just not so. Canada funds its healthcare at around $3500 per person, the US spends $7000 per person. A single payer system funded to your levels in the US would be very very good. So the money's in your system, it's just not going to the sick, as Bill Clinton often says.

litstomper Says:
Aug 28, 2009 - why are so many jelous of profit? why is class warfare so popular for the left? I dont mind beening low class. I am happy to be where I'm at in this country. why wont ed debate wilkow or mike church. did he not offer to pay some one to come on his show? oh yea, hes too chicken.
