Nov 4, 2009 - sometimes fiction is stranger than fact; the oil industry and the american government armed with a nuclear weaon save the world. lol meanwhile in real life the oil industry and the american government are slowly destroying it. but its a good movie i liked it especially this scene, pity nasa's budget is just the left over change from the "defence" budget, then this movie would be easier to swallow.

There's no way such a mission would work, do some research. And if you want to limit yourself to just the movie universe , there is a scene where they mention help from Russia and Japan, and then there's the docking with the MIR space station for fuel, so get your head and american flag out of your ass, if this would happen all nations would contribue.

Nov 10, 2009 - Ya know, I can point out at least 4 things wrong with this scene. -oxidizer loading does not finish until about 30 seconds before launch -their suits aren't sealed, hence theres NO REASON for them to close visors -the SRB lights almost a full 5 seconds BEFORE lift-off -the roll program is done IMMEADIATELY after they clear the tower -SRB seperation happens LONG before they reach space as the fuel runs out about 2 mins into launch. I could go on but its a Jerry B film, what do you expect.

Nov 13, 2009 - Gets a bit corny if you know your tech though. Max Q (maximum drag force) for instance, occurs within half a minute of launch because most the earth's air is real low down. Imagine a spaghetti western where the cowboys are driving HMMWVs or a Vietnam movie where the team's sniper is using an aquabus. You'd be all "Oh for fuck's sake, do your fucking research you complete twats" too. Well, unless there's a justification such as magic or time travel or something.

Nov 14, 2009 - lol the whole launch sequence looks funny if you know your tech 1) they would never put 2 vehichles in such close proximity incase of an accident, likely use pad 39 A and B 2) the roll manouver was nothing but a cool looking roll, rather then putting them into proper trajectory 3) The fact they eject the main fuel tank along with the SRB's at the same time, and still manage to have enough fuel to burn the engines for the entire trip 4) The Laws of Inertia with those rolls in space.
