Nov 9, 2009 - I like the new mass and my hope is that when I am assigned a parish I can bring in the Latin mass and do both just to give the people of my generation who never grew up with it a chance to see the splender and beauty that was lost after Vatican II.

Nov 9, 2009 - Music experts: I do not think seminarians are singing the Panis Angelicus at 31:42... does anyone know who is singing this extraordinary version? thanks in advance
PraiseDivineMercy Says:
Nov 9, 2009 - The words are definitely the same. It's just a different choral arrangement rather than the traditional one.

Nov 10, 2009 - I heard the Opening Organ Processional at a Tridentine Mass last Sunday and watched this to hear it again.

Nov 10, 2009 - I really like the music that is chanted at 44:02. It is a very beautiful chant.

Nov 10, 2009 - a very beautiful chant. I think this is recorded music and the seminarians are not performing this and the Panis Angelicus. If anyone know the group who is performing this please advise. Thanks

Nov 16, 2009 - Nobody ever told me about this beautiful rite. Every parish should have a Tridentine Mass.

Nov 16, 2009 - I am a firm Vatican II child, but I am so glad they have started to perform Latin Mass here in Philadelphia. I have a lot to learn, but I have volunteered to be an Altar Sever. So far many people seem to be interested in celebrating in the old way. I hope it be comes more common place with time.
79743618 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I think that everyone was so eeger to change that we didn't stop and think about the beauty and splendor we were getting rid of with the Latin Mass. I think if we would have kept thr LAtin Mass we would not have the problem in the church we have today.
ronsimeone Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - @79743618 you have a valid point.... many may disagree with you but the point is well taken. The explanation I had regarding Vatican II was that it would open up new dialogue and have involvement by the laity. The problem has been with interpretation and those who had a voice in the interpretation. Today, I see the product of Vatican II; a declining clergy, schools and churches closing, our children who do not know basic cathechism, and bishops who are CEOs in clerical attire.
79743618 Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I agree completely VAtican II was a huge moment in church history and brought in many good things including the new mass. I think what the church need to do is just kind of pause and find away to merge both the old and the new. But here in Milwaukee I have seen many people who wish to bring back the Latin Mass but most priests refuse to say it.
spitzer72 Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - So you should probably think more because it is not only a matter of "splendor" but a matter of faith. The Mass of all days is beautyful because it is the perfect expression of the faith.
spitzer72 Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - Defending Vatican II ideas is defending ideas wich have been condemned by the Magisterium and the precedent Councils. It is defendig modernism against orthodoxy. And we all know that heterodoxy leads people directly to commit heresies.
philorlo Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - nothing else is the latin mass. Novus ordo is the "giving up" of the one true faith and the starting of another belief. Just as Hank8 proclaimed himself as head of the church of england, and surrendered his roman catholic heritage (and lost the faith for an entire country) so too have the followers of novordo lost the faith for themselves and their children.
79743618 Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - That's the splendor of the Latin Mass is that it truly focuses on Christ in the Eucharist. When you go to mass you actually feel like you are taking part in something sacred and Holy.
dyaonna Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - yes you do
rumpranger65 Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - @ronsimeone I'm not saying the Church is heretical. But the Second Vatican Council was a pastoral council, not so much a dogmatic council. Look at Nostra Aetate, Lumen Gentium, Sacrosanctam Concilium, Dignitatis Humanae, and Gaudium et Spes (which Benedict XVI called almost "downright Pelagian). Lots in these documents seem to contradict previous statements of the Church and the popes. I hope that this will be clarified soon with the discussions. I won't lose faith in the Church.
