What if Iran or China put a military base here in the USA? Would THAT be justified?

Aug 2, 2009 - To be honest though, the government isn't really following Islamic principles. Which is why the world sees them as hypocrites. Things have been messed up (politically wise). Even Islamic leaders have denounced the government; Ayatollah Bourjurdi and Montezeri (not reformists either). I forgot where I saw this, but Montezeri's son in a open letter attacked the government and denounced them due to their corruption. But, I also see where you're coming from =(

Aug 2, 2009 - Fair enough. I know the sunnis do not consider shias to be Islam but it is all from the same source and just as inhumane as Islam in any country dominated by any form of Islam. I just hope the Persians become free to chose their government and interact with the outside world. The world is less without their full contributions.

Aug 4, 2009 - How does the government reflect values and beliefs of Islam when the majority of the Ayatollahs and Grand Ayatollahs are actually very much against the way the government actually carries itself out. The most senior figure in Shi'a Islam himself, Ayatollah Montazeri, has even been under house arrest for the past 20 years because he doesn't agree with the way the government runs things. This movement (green movement) can't be against Islam when it is led and supported by Muslims.

The people are called muslims but Islam is not the natural religion of Persia, it is a conquerer. Aug 4, 2009 - As I said before, the majority of the Shi'a clergy are against the way the Iranian government behaves, so how is that Islamic law then? We get our interpretations from the Ulama who are the most supreme authority on Islamic law in Shi'a Islam, and most of whom are very moderate and do not support the things the Iranian government does.
