Nov 15, 2009 - Yea that is him, they did that because the show "top of pops" wanted them to lip sync and not really play their instruments so basically just stand their while the song played off the album and pretend it was them, but they were able to convince the show to at least let Kurt sing to the instrumental track. I mean this was a show who's normal guests at the time were whoever was at the top of the charts

Nov 18, 2009 - Top of the Pops was a program that required its musical guests to intentionally play to a back-track, so the music was essentially played from a CD and the artists had to act like it was live. Naturally, like any great band, Nirvana was pissed about this. Instead of deliberately ignoring the invitation, they wanted to actively protest, which is why they dance around and sing the way they do. It was an epic performance, IMO.
