The SNP have cynically exploited the tensions within our union for their own political expediency. I would say that there is more that unites us then divides us, but the Scottish people have the right to self-govern like anyone else - if that's what the MAJORITY want, and at the moment they don't. English voters will never elect the Lib-Dems; worse than useless!

Nov 14, 2009 - i agree more or less, other than the voters against independence there are a good few polls that show a majority for aswell, and the tories are almost universally hated in scotland, so as the election approaches i predict there will be a bit of a "lets get out of this crap" feel. also, i think its a shame lib dems wont get voted, the only non authoritarian of the 3 main parties, pro free market, whats wrong with that?

Nov 14, 2009 - It's an interesting point you raise, we shall soon find out just how strong the Union is - we are about to enter a very difficult and turbulent period in British politics. Just as the Tories are disliked in Scotland, Labour are loathed in large parts of England where Brown has never been accepted. The other factor of course is English Nationalism. It's the dog that hasn't barked, yet, and could offer a "nuclear" option for a Tory government if the Scottish question becomes unmanageable.
