Nov 17, 2009 - Nice loaded words. Good thing I only drink water. And yes it is fat people's fault. Christ.
ZesPak Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - it's MOST fat people's fault, but some people can't do shit about it (mostly people with thyroid problems). However, a lot of fat basterds that are fat because they eat McDonalds 24/7, say "I can't do shit about it". Which is a lie. Fat bastards

TheSmash4cash Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - "best cut sugar all together..." This is extremely stupid. Any way of thinking about dieting that claims fruit is bad for you is inherently wrong. Just limit your processed sugars. Trust me, fruit is good for you.

Nov 21, 2009 - Search for lyle mcdonald on google and there is a thread about it on his forum where he does some debunking.

Nov 21, 2009 - Excellent lecture, I think sugar is the worst food you can put into your body and there is a political silence about its destructive nature on the human race, basically because it makes a lot of money.. Best cut it out... And get your fruit juices freshly made with all the pulp fibre still in it. I feel much healthier and have lost 4 kg the last 2 months from cutting out sugar and cycling.
dylanvalente Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - This lecture is amazing. I knew sugar was the problem, but I didn't know it mattered what kind of sugar or that the same number of calories affects health differently depending on whether they're from one kind or the other. Very useful information. Everyone should see this.
ZesPak Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - lol never said I was fat/had thyroid problems. Of course not all people with thyroid problems are fat. If your thyroid overfunctions chances are you'll become as skinny as an ironing board, no matter what you eat. Symptoms of underfunctioning are weight gain, calcium deficiency, tiredness,...

Nov 22, 2009 - This is great knowledge to clarify so many misconceptions about nutrition and fitness. I understand the true benefit of exercise now. I went a bit further and gave up ALL sweets...we get enough sugar from every day foods. Not only did my cholesterol numbers get within a healthy range - WITHOUT statin drugs like Lipitor - but my body slimmed significantly. I also took some natural supplements. His findings need to be institutionalized in schools.
IShotLazer Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - I know, I didn't think you were the one with a thyroid problem XD. I just think it's an excuse used too much. It's fairly rare that someone has a major dip in thyroid function enough take people hundreds of pounds overweight. I know only 2 people with under active thyroids (by a significant margin) and they are both only slightly chunky, maybe 30-40 pounds overweight. That is probably too much of a generalization but I see being overweight being too avoidable.

Nov 25, 2009 - along those lines, used to get flu shots too (now I know better since they add formaldehyde as one of the ingredients), etc. I quit taking the Mevacor, went back to butter, drink mostly green tea with honey and lemon or just lemon and water and sometimes add honey to it, have not had a flu shot for about ten years and feel a whole lot better than I did when I went by the doctors advise that made me sicker. You need the fat from animal-not processed, but we do not need the sugar.

Nov 25, 2009 - . By the end of this lecture, he concludes that chronic fructose exposure alone has been the sole promoter of the Metabolic Syndrome, (obesity, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension). The liver, pancreas, brain and glucose consumption work together to keep the system in a negative normal ying-yang energy balance. I once many years ago took a med for cholesterol, was told to quit fat intake and the everything that goes
lrugs Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - Dr. Lustig clearly tells that acute fructose exposure does not suppress this hunger hormone, ghrelin, because there are no receptors on the beta cell that makes the insulin. So--that means, if insulin is not stimulated and does not increase, the leptin does not increase and if leptin does not increase, your brain cannot see or be signaled that you ate something, which in turn causes one to eat more. Once insulin increases, so does the leptin which then tells, (signals), the brain it had enough
lrugs Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - I have been using honey rather than sugar. Honey happens to be the only food item that will NOT spoil and is great as a preservative itself I found after cleaning some strawberries or cantaloupes, I add it, store it in a glass bottle, (the bottle the honey comes in when empty is great for this) after I cut them up and then stores longer in the fridge. There are still precautions giving honey to babies on the labels of honey that I am not yet clear on understanding why not.
lrugs Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - such as soda pop, hamburger-buns, breads, pretzels, just about everything processed that has caused our system and health to go haywire and including baby formulas (specifically the ones the WIC program our government pass out to the underprivileged single mothers). He does not refer fructose in raw fruit or to homemade fruit-drink-now fruit juices. Next time you pick up any item at the store to eat or drink, take a magnifying glass and READ the ingredients, or content on its label.
lrugs Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - Dr. Lustig explained what the hormone does, ghrelin, (the hunger hormone) and, its part in our body's natural process to stop eating when we had enough. First, he specifically describes the differences of fructose, sucrose and glucose and how it is metabolized. Fructose and sucrose are the same, where glucose is not. He refers fructose as the High Fructose Corn Syrup that food companies add to all processed foods and fruit drinks, at the stores,
